Amazing how much diff 2" risers make
So I've owned a lot of motorcycles and have never given much though to ever installing risers.
I thought I'd give it a shot with my 2006 Nomad though and am amazed at how much more comfortable I am on the bike just by adding a couple inches to the bar height. While adding the risers I also twisted the bars back a little to get them closer to me and am amazed at how much more comfortable I am on the bike. For the $30 it cost for the risers I would say if you're not comfortable on your nad right now give it a shot. Slick Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Its a long reach for most of us on the Nomads. The newer nomad handlebars are a little closer to you and most guys don't need risers.

I just installed 2 inchers on my 08 last weekend. They made a huge difference, too. Best $36 I've spent so far on upgrades.

Amazing how much diff 2" risers make
I am about 5'11" with a 32/33 sleeve and I thought that was about average but I needed risers on my '06 Nomad. I finally used Aeromach 4"x2". Strangely, that is exactly the same as the ones I used on the Volusia.
I found a good way to figure out where your hands should be is to sit on the bike, close your eyes and reach out for what would be a comfortable position. Do that a few times and it should give you an idea of what you need for risers.

Risers are one of the first mods I did on the Nomad. Even though I have long reach it still relieves the pressure between my shoulderblades and makes for a much better ride. It allows for very long days in the saddle.

I have the Chuckster 2" on mine. I am 6'2" and I am MUCH more comfortable with them installed. Not sure the 3 inch or 4 would be 'better', but the two did it for me.
The 1700 Nomad DOES have a different handlebar and that may be a option too.

Amazing how much diff 2" risers make
Just in case anybody was looking for an inexpensive set of risers here are the ones I bought:
http://www.spacerjim.com/1600CSpacers.html $25 shipped in the states. I paid an extra $3 to get them shipped to me in Canada which I thought was very reasonable. Quality of them seems good and they took me all of 10 minutes to put on and came with everything I needed. Slick |

I'm 5" 8" and have a sleeve length of about 32". Would raising those bars 2" be beneficial to someone of my size?
