I got my Russell Day Long seat delivered to me in Custer. The first day I rode with it we were out for about 6 hours doing the Custer wildlife loop and some other stuff. I never squirmed once. The next day I rode a big loop up to Deadwood, Sturgis, Rapid City and back to Custer. I never had to shift my weight to try and relieve pressure. The day I left the rally I rode almost 500 miles to Pueblo, CO and the following day rode about 250 to Los Alamos, NM. Today I rode almost 500 miles to Prescott, AZ. I have yet to have to squirm or shift to get a new comfortable position on the Russell seat. If you have the desire for a new seat and the ability I would highly encourage you to consider the day long seat. If you are thinking it is too much $$ and think you'll get a mustang or some such, the Russells are not really that much more.

The list of good things about the Russell is definitely growing. I think if a person can afford it, it's sounding like the way to go with an aftermarket seat.

I appreciate the report, Charlie. This may fix what I consider the only problem with an otherwise superb motorcycle. I am thinking long and hard about pulling the trigger.
I start squirming at about 250 miles and need to stop and get off the bike maybe hourly once it begins. The Mustang was a vast improvement over the stock seat, but I'd love to be able to comfortably ride as far as I want to and not have my buttocks and lower back be the determining factor.

Glad the seat is working out for you, I have nothing but praise for mine. I know mine saved the Nomad from being replaced, it was the one thing I just could not fix until the Russell seat. We did 1400 miles in 3 days and would have kept going, which I could never have come close to on the stock or Mustang seat for me.
Worth mentioning that for some people the other options just don't work and something like Russell is the only way to go, but for those luck others they can save the money and use the stock or less expensive Mustang option.

Hi All, People considering the Russell should remember they are custom made and not generic like Mustangs.

Glad you are happy with it Charlie! Sounds like a good investment, especially if you like the long hauls.

If they would not have delayed so often and for so long, I would have went that way instead of Russell likely, mainly because it would have saved me a lot of $$ since they are in Canada.

If they get wet, they just take a long time to dry out, and too wet it may not dry out properly. I have rode through a lot of rain with mine and have never had an issue, I had not covered it at a hotel in Missoula a week or so ago and it got quite wet before I got out there and it was fine too. I think the real issue is a lot of water over a considerable amount of time. The cover will shed a lot of it, but it will get in the stitching. I chose the half moon stitching because it is the most waterproof (less stiching = more waterproof).
