Upcoming rides?

Any upcoming short rides for the South Central Group? What about another Natchez run? I'm in Orlando this week but may be able to do a short ride soon.

What about Sunday? I won't be back in town till Friday night and we will be racing Saturday. I haven't seen the weather forcast for MS. It's about 90 and sunny here in Orlando.

Don't mean to be a party pooper, but we need to watch the river conditions in Natchez when we decide to go. They are expecting some serious problems from what the news down here has been reporting. The riverboats have quit running, and the Isle of Capri is shutting down. Probably we will be ok, but just need to keep an eye out.

Frank all the casinos up here are closed the barges that the casinos are on floats but there buildings and parking lots are under water. Flood stage in Memphis is 34 feet and by tomorrow the river is supposed to hit 48 feet the highest since 1937 when it hit 48.7 feet.

I read that the Isle of Capri in Natchez is closed, as is the riverboat docks. The crest for Natchez/ Vidalia is predicted at 64 ft on the 21st. We are supposed to crest at 48.5 ft on the 23rd. The main thing folks are concerned about down here is not so much topping the levees as is levee failure. My office stands a chance of being wiped out. I am in Iberville Parish. Some just north of me, some are already moving things out of houses and businesses. The levees by my office are at 51 ft, so I may be ok. No one in the area has flood insurance. Wasn't required. You can see the levee from my office. What a mess !! If all looks ok, I still want to ride with you guys whenever y'all decide. You know, I was thinking. Might be a good time to retire. ::)

Hope everything works out for you. We rode to Vicksburg Friday and it didn't look that bad under the railroad track. The Ameristar casino didn't even have water in the moat around it. I guess they have it separated from the river water. There were some barges still running the river but it looked like they had a hard time with the current.

Thanks, Bobby. I was just watching the news, and I think we'll be ok. My daughter's in laws live in V'burg, and she was telling me they told her pretty much the same thing as you. I think the levee failures during Katrina has everybody spooked down here. Any time you guys get ready to ride, let me know.

If any of you are interested, I'm doing a SS1000 in June, either the 18th or 25th. There will be 5 of us, I think. Route will be Tulsa, OK - St. Louis, MO - Memphis, TN - Tulsa, OK.
