Spark Plug Caps

I've been trying to track down a slight "surging" my Nomad has had for about 6 months. My TFI is adjusted so I get no ping so it's not a lean issue.

A couple of buddies have suggested it could be ignition based.

I have noticed that the left front spark plug cap is not real tight. Like most of you the screw on tip to the spark plug is not on the plug itself and is in the cap.

Just wondering if any of you have had an issue with the cap fitting somewhat loose and cause a weird low rpm stumble???

Bike runs great at all throttle openings except just off idle like in a parking lot or in 3rd gear at about 35-40 mph...
