Cracked Radiator Update

Got the bike back from the Dealer yesterday. They replaced it and installed new gaskets and a new drain plug and washed it.

It seems to run well, I will give it a test this weekend.

I had to take the service manager out to the bike to closely examine the saddle bag doors.

He agreed that the left door appears warped and there is a gap that will allow them to leak.

Supposedly they had the bags off to try to adjust the doors, but he said that there is no way to adjust the doors or the latches. Why they did not see the gap when re installing them is a mystery, unless as I suspect they did not really make any effort to see look at what was wrong or actually take the doors off.

He did say that he would ask Kawa to replace the left hand door, but was not real optimistic they would agree altho he did say it is a warranty issue.

I will give him a week or so and do a follow up. It is rather frustrating, but at least I got the bike for the weekend.

If you are still covered they have no choice. The choice they have is to make it right no matter what.

Some punk kid know nuthin put the bags on. Whether or not they were bad, all you had going for you in PDI was a kid with a minimum wadge installing the ft end and what ever is loose in the steel crate, like mirrors, ft fender, ft wheel, and etc besides the hard bags.

PDI is glorifed broom pushers. This same thing happens with cars too. It is likely the doors are defective from a bad batch of more bad doors.

Robots made this stuff, while some shumk presses buttons... Robots paint the bike too.

If the service dept won't deal with it ask for the North American rep for which ever area your in... If he refuses lawyer up, and tell these guys that is the plan. These bad run 1000 each new and that don;t count the 6 trim piece which run 50 bucks each! or anything else.. and these are old prices, from 05 when I wrecked.

Last summer i trashed my ft fender hitting a jeep that hit a moose... at the time that fender to replace in same paint was 317 low dough, and i wish I bought it then because today is is 372.85.

This isn't your doing and if it was it still shouldn't matter. What if you loose a 1000 dollar camera in there because if rain?

If you wanted soft bags you would have wanted another bike probably. A factory rep has the power of a God, between the dealer and Ma Kawii. Be nice to them mostly...

Thanks for the advice Mac. I agree. I will push it, first I will give them a chance to make it right.

Works like dealer says there we did you a really big favor and got that door on. water gets in and you go back with a damp camera. They say tuff beans, you say factory rep, he comes and will usually get you a whole new bag... since the door doesn't work. If he says no you say I didn't buy the bike to soak my camera, and my camera doesn't like water, will you buy that too?

If he says no you say fine, my attorney at law with be the next contacts, card please.... Also the State DA, and the BBB will be informed.. Life as you know will suck to be you...

I was a dealer tech for Volvo, VW, Saab, BMW yada yada... take no crap from them... Inspect every detail of every thing thing they do, with a fine comb... Wear clothing you can get down on the ground and look, and look hard. I do any times i had warrenty done, because it ain't my grubby mitts doing the work. I don't trust one of their techs to know a single thing more than I do, and most of them don't know 1/2 of what I forgot..

Factory reps live in terror of the factory and the words DA, and BBB, they can't afford a bad report card.. More so now.
