This warm spell we're having is great for riding. Sunday we rode to the top of Lookout Mountain, west brow. It's nothing like the west coast mountains , but nice just the same. At the top on rt. 189 there's a pull off and a ramp that supposedly sane people jump off of with little wings on their backs. We all know this to be hang gliding. They also ride in little homemade airplanes with weed wacker motors for power. Must be a California thang!!!!!

Its amazing the difference a couple of days make, last thursday I awoke to -4f and over 2' of snow on the lawn and 5' snowbanks along the roads and driveways, by saturday it was 40f and climbing. Yesterday and today its 55f and hardly a trace of snow left. If this keeps up another day or two I'll be out on the bike once the roadsalt gets washed away. Last year I put the bike away on Jan. 10 this year I might be getting it out . These sure aren't the Canadian winters I grew up with .

Me too, except I'm wearing fleece lined wind pants under my chaps and Sorels, 30F. Oh yeah, and a thinsulate lined leather jacket, some wool shirts, gauntleted gloves, and full face helmet.

Oldbiker,
I know of what you speak. Warm here too, we rode to LBL yesterday for a great time. Also I,m aware of the hanglider location in Chatt. I had a couple of good friends lose their life there a few years back. Flying around in a 172 watching the hangliders and ultralites , we guess they got caught in a down draft and smashed agains the mountain side. You ever get up to Nashville, let me know. Ride safe Shep |

I rode this morning but it was chilly (40's) and it's supposed to rain tomorrow. Does anyone know of any gloves that keep your fingers warm that are not bulky? Do they make Underarmour liners?

Way too cold here for a ride. I usually ride up until the first of December, then put the NAD up until about March depending on weather.
I'm really missing it right about now.

Hey Zoom, if you find a pair that works please post it. I 've tried everything including my hunting gloves. Someone suggested ski gloves, but there 's not a hell of a lot of ski shops in Georgia. If you put a pair of gloves on and blow on the back of your hands and feel the warm air they wont work. The best I could do was a pair of thin leather gloves and a pair of insulated mechanics gloves over them. They worked until it got into the low 40's at 60 MPH.
The heated gloves work if you want to install a cigarette lighter style plug. |

Oldbiker & Zoom... I don't know if UnderArmor makes liners or not, but I just bought a set from Sun&Ski the other day. They help a little...but not much... to be honest, save your $$. The only thing I've found that has made any real difference when it was around 32degrees here was mittons. I have a set of hunting mittons that are fingerless gloves w/ a mitton cover that flips up out of the way. When I get on the hwy or a long stretch, I pull the mitton cover on and my fingers keep each other warm. I can even pull the brakes & clutch w/ them.. although it's not the most comfortable...but if I'm in stop & go traffic.. I don't have the windspeed/chill to deal with anyway. Just my $.02cw....

OB, My step-daughter's dad does that every weekend... then he tries to tell me how dangerous m/c riding is! Go figure the logic in that one. California logic: "If I do it it's ok; if you do something else, you're wrong, crazy, foolish, etc". Is this a great state or what??? ![]() |

I rode into work today 32 degrees and sunny. It's supposed to get up to 60 degrees this afternoon so freezing this morning will be worth it.
