Need a Favor from Below the Mason/Dixon Line

With the National Rally in Maggie Valley....an idea popped back into my head that ain't been there for awhile...but the location of the rally kind of made me think of it again....so here goes....

Anyone who has been to my home knows I have a very large, well stocked wet bar in my basement. It is a great place to relax, chat, take in some tunes....sing a few of your own on my killer home karaoke system....whatever. I have a pretty diverse mix of spirits....but one thing I have never had, or ever tasted....is some genuine southern White Lightnin'.

What are the chances one of you <s>backwards</s>....no wait....backWOODs types from our southern regions might hook a brother up with some of the genuine article...?? You could stick it in one of those "if it fits, it ships" cartons from USPS and Charlie can keep an eye out for it at the Post Office and make sure it arrives safely... ;).

In order to protect the guilty (heck...nobody is innocent).....you can PM me if this is within' your power. I will happily reimburse you for whatever expenditures you might incur. Once it arrives....I will take a photo or two of the jug atop my bar and post it here. I've always been curious to sample the real deal. Thx in advance....(I think)... !

I don't know where it can be bought around here. In Gatlinburg there is a place that you can sample it. I gave it a try the last time my wife and I were in Gatlinburg. It is some powerful stuff. I know they sell it but it was quite expensive. Gatlinburg is a ride through Smoky Mountain National Park. 30 miles through the park. Cherokee, NC is on one side of the park and Gatlinburg, TN is on the other. Probably 40 to 45 miles one way from Maggie Valley.

When I was stationed in Millington, TN near Memphis, my buddies and I used to eat at the local Pizza Hut restaurant pretty much whenever we hadn't drunk up all our money after payday. Anyhoo, we made friends with a couple of the waitresses there and one night they invited us to go to a party with them after they got off work. So we went to this party up around Tipton, a few miles N of Millington. They had some white lightning there. It was like drinking Everclear straight from the bottle. What I remember most was the hangovers we all had the next morning. That's the only time I've ever tried it.

Hey Kris, I want to party with you, cowboy! Sounds like you've got the sweet setup at home.

My maternal grandfather used to make the stuff. He let me take a swig of some when I was kid. I felt that mouthful going down all the way until it hit bottom. Funny how some things from long ago are easy to remember. My grandfather died in 1976 and all of his ceramic jugs were empty at the time. I don't know of anyone around here that has any but up in the hills I'm sure there is plenty to be found. The hardest part would be finding it.

I can vouch for what Kris says about his basement bar. He has no shortage of different "spirits". "a drunkard's dream if I ever did see one" .........I'll be down again to ::)
have another look at the bar, sometime soon. Maybe this summer.

Kris if you can arrange someone to bring up some "hooch" to M.V. I'd be happy to bring it back for you. But maybe have them bring two bottles so one of them makes it home to you. ;) Seriously though, I'd do that for you.

I have had home made liquor before and it wasn't that bad. Not something I want to get drunk on but if you want a kick start it'll do the job.

I won't speak for Kris, Joel, but I think he might be looking for something without a label and less commercial. You know,.....life on the edge kinda' stuff. But that's just my guess. ;)

I was guessing that as well. Life on the edge and on the run from the ATF.

Don't drag me into your web of deceit and misbehavior. :(" title="" border="0"/>

But make sure when you pack the jar of "Spring Water" with at least an inch and a half of packing materials around it and that it is in a package that will absorb the "Spring Water" in case there is a leak.

I have a friend that lived in WV and said people would go to a stump in the woods and leave money under a cup on the stump, come back the next day and the hooch would be there. Sounds like a wives tale, but interesting.

I tried some once about six years ago, I remember it burning all the way down, and then hitting me like a ton of bricks after a while. Its sure not like the Crown Royal that I usually enjoy.

I've seen some locally, but it is not fit for human consumption. I forgot I had left it out, Gina didn't know what it was, but said it worked wonders on the drain!
The best I ever tasted came from OK. It was smmooothe.
