Auxiliary Light Replacement Bulbs

Hi Guys,
I have a set of the following lights:

Recently one of the bulbs went out. I'm kinda surprised as these are still fairly new. Anyways, I removed the chrome outer ring and out came the light. I assumed it would be a sealed beam, but it is not. I could remove the bulb and wire from the back of the light housing...

The bulb is made by Au-Lite and the part number is as follows:

Au-Lite
H312V35W-N
R610

I seem to be having a real hard time finding this replacement bulb. Does anyone here know of a place, or would I be better off just buying two new 12V 35W sealed beam lamps.

If so, I assume then that I could run one wire (as you see in the photo(s) from where the original bulb plugged in to one of the tabs on the sealed beam...could it be that simple...?? Thanks.

The guts of the light look just like those I ripped out of my Cobra aux lights. That's what I replaced with sealed beam (4415A, amber, 4411 if you want white). You need to add a negative lead. You can connect it to ground. I added a full aux light harness, so the ground will go back to the fuse block. What you have now is grounded through the metal of the aux light housing itself. Look at my thread here: http://www.vulcanbagger.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=9622 for picts from my asking similar questions.

Hope it helps.

Thanks Louis,
I pretty well figured with the sealed beams I would need to run a separate ground wire to the second light lead...but it sounds easy enough. I also like the idea of the amber lights... :). Great info!

I have the same lights and replaced mine with 55w bulbs from Canadian Tire here in Canada....I would expect something like AutoZone or pretty much any place like that that sells headlight bulbs would have the similar ones.

Before I changed mine to sealed beams I looked all over for those bulbs. Had to get them from my dealer at $9 a shot.
After 2 of them burned out in a month or so I went to sealed beams. It's a pretty simple change over. If I can do it anyone can.

That's an H3 halogen lamp. Very common, although 35 watt seems hard to find. All the lamps I see are 55 watt.

Netnorske, My cobra lightbar has an H3 bulb like the one in your picture. It came with an H3 25 watt which are almost impossible to find.

I bought some 35 watt bulbs and the same day blew the fuse to the tail light. (That is the circuit Cobra had me tap into).

I installed a standard ($5) 30 amp automotive relay in the headlamp, so I could run the higher watt bulbs, including the 55watt.

I found the H3 55 watt at autozone and walmart.

The 35 watt at Lightbulbemporium.com. (they shipped fast)

The 25 watt is available from Cobra on Amazon at nearly twice the price.

The headlight on my 2007 is a 50 watt. The H3 35watt passing lamp seems nearly as bright and seems much brighter than the standard 25 watt.

If I was doing this all over again, I would just get the 55 watt bulbs from autozone, install the relay, and get er done cheap and fast.

If you want the wiring info for the relay, just send me a pm.

Hopes this information helps you, especially after all the work you just did for us on the baffle noise clips.

Bill

Thanks guys for all your help. I emailed Au-Lite and they actually got right back to me with this web site:

http://www.xtecauto.com/

I ordered two of the H3 35W bulbs for $6.00 each...$15.00 w/shipping. I think I might go with the sealed beam 35W Amber lights though....I saw them locally at Bent Bike (I think)...and will check back there today.

I bought some H3 55w at Princess Auto for $4.99 each in a housing, I replaced the bulb and reflector/lens in my F&S lightbar and I really like the extra light at night.

I started out with a relay in the headlight bucket, so that's done. I upgraded to 35 watts.

Thanks for the link. I just ordered a pair of 35 watt spare bulbs, since all I can find are 55 watt locally.

It looks like you have the same light bar that I have. I got mine from Value Accessories and mine came with the 4411 Sealed beams already.

Mine aren't sealed beams. I believe the CWI lights come in 2 versions: with sealed beams or with h3 bulbs.

Opps I believe Jack made a error, and these are common as dirt E-3 bulbs.

Most any auto parts store stockes these in Wagner brand, but do not stock them in 35 watts. They can order them in 35 watts though.

IF you got yer greasey finger prints on the glass in any way that kills this type lamp.

sorry Jack :'(

Sorry Mac... Google "H3 lamp" and see what comes up.

Here's an example:
