Universal Vista Cruise Installed - Quality Check P

Hi everyone,

Just installed the Vista Cruise, and it "appears" to work (no test ride yet)...

I loosened the morror and brake and slid over, installed bracket and collar, blah blah blah...

Question I really have about the install is: between the bracket collar and the starter button assembly I have a 1/4 inch gap or so...is this the norm? It appears that due to the "arm" shape this is as close to the switch as you can get..that sound right??

Does this look to be normal?

See Pics

From the back side:

Thanks in advance

Derry

That looks like how mine is mounted. That little tab on the arm that keeps it from twisting on the collar prevents the collar from getting any closer to the switch than what you are showing.
I suppose you could trim that little tab down and it probably wouldn't hurt anything, but it seems to work fine the way it is.

I ground down those two t*ts on the arm so it would fit flush against the housing without pushing the mirror 1/4 inch out. Worked great...

Just a pain to re-install over Iso Grips.

One of these days I need to get detailed pics of this..

I didn't like the big ugly bracket much, and used a little tab of plumbers metal tape. The kind with 2 different sized holes, commom in any hardware store.

I moddified the screws in the kit, and nothing on the bike for this.

BTW this is in the ON selection as it is folded up OFF and much harder to see in a picture.

that plumbers metal tape was thick enough to mount in to that screw between the throttle cables and have enough support? I'm thinking of doing something like that too mac.

Ain't broke it yet, going into season 3... Not close to breaking it so far as I know, and if I do I got the rest of that roll of tape. I made the 2 holes piece sort of oval and polished it some because i was too lazy to paint it. The polishing was done with needlenose plyiers and a 8 inch buff with white diamond on it.. Polishing resists rust..

The nuts you see are double nutted, and the allen is ground down pretty much, but a key would still fit it barley.

I might mod this too and get rid of the outter nut using lock tite blue just cleaning up sometime..

Man am I grateful for this thread. I bought a second hand vista and it didn't come with the original instructions. It turns out that I have my locking ring on backwards.

DaBull, pretty much what I did with an existing screw... i could have used a little bar like that guy did, but bend it on some angle if I had wanted too.

I think what he did us ugly too, but not as ugly... His little bar ends in a gob of nuts...

I still have that problem, but hid it better.

And anyone drilling had better look where they are drilling to...

If you want to get rid of the bar across the switch housing, take a look at what I did. Not difficult to make. Scroll down to the lower part of the page. It's very solid and works great.
