Never saw it coming!
Went out for a hamburger at Yankee's in Carlos Sunday with some riding buds. Got there, but not until after hitting the pavement first. Man, that hurts.
We were taking a curve, about a 110-115 degree bend, it went down slightly, across a little bridge to the right and we were on the inside. First rider went a little wide, even though we weren't pushing it, and I took the inside with a lot of room left to lean if needed ( I wasn't anywhere near my boards yet) when, SMACK, just that fast I was down. I never felt any kind of wobble, or slippage or had any other warnings. Didn't see anything on the road and it was dry and sunny. The rider behind me said it looked to him like I was just slightly airborn just before. Also, when I went down the bike spun around as it was sliding and got on top of me, the two of us at this point spinning and sliding across the road toward the oposite side ditch. We stopped just off in the grass, the bike backwards with both piped pluged with dirt, me trying to pull myself out from under. After assessing the damage, and deciding that I was still alive and functional, we tried to peice together what happened. It seems there was a little bump with a dugout on the backside of it. But from the angle we were aproaching, it really didn't show up. Must have lost contact with the road just long enough to let the back get out ahead. Also, the rear crash bar grabbed an unevenness on the road and started the bike spinning. Only damage to the bike is bent and cracked left side rear crash bar, the bracket that it is attached to , the same one the bags rest on and the pipes are attached to, is pushed toward the front of the bike, but the bike was driveable. As for me, I hurt like hell. But i got to kiss my Kelli hello when I got home, so it's a good day. But, it just goes to show, even when watching the road and riding in the best of conditions and being senseable (I swear, we weren't pushing it) there are things on the road you just can't always plan for or see. Be careful out there guys! ![]()

Wow, that's too bad! All things considered, you are here to tell the story and the bike is still rideable - it could have been much worse. Take care and heal up fast!

Man I hate to hear things like this....Happy that you are OK other than feeling like a truck ran over you. You will more than likely feel worse tomorrow. As bad as it was, you know how much worse it could have been. Thank God for his protection.

Dude....you are awful lucky to walk/ride away. Things do happen fast. Sorry that happened to you....and thx for the reminder to have total awareness at all times. Just curious, were you wearing all your leather gear...and what type of lid?

Really glad you are okay. Thanks for sharing and the warning, although point is taken that there might not be all that much to be on the look out for. Your description of what happened makes good sense, we're pretty dependent on having two tires in good contact with the road in a turn.

Thanks much, guys. Good news, I was all leathered up, Jacket, chaps, and gauntlets. No lid though, but just a little scratch on top/back of head. Giving serious consideration to wearing helmet more often ::). And yes, Thank God!
Bike feels a heck of a lot heavier on top than underneath. ![]()

Your guardian angel was certainly looking out for you. A reminder to all of us that things can go wrong at a moments notice. Might still want to consider a doctor visit just to make sure nothing is wrong. Glad you and your friends were able to walk away with only minor damage.

Glad to hear you didn't suffer any major injuries! Sometimes I just don't feel like putting on my protective riding suit, especially when it gets hot. Things like this are a strong reminder to me that my gear won't do me any good hanging in the closet. Thanks for sharing.

Geeze!!! Because I've been there, I know that's gotta hurt. I'm glad you made out OK and the bike damage wasn't too bad.
I have a friend who I ride with at times and I use to give him the gears when he'd dress to the nines with armor. He said what I now live by, and that's "all the gear, all the time".

Yeah, we've talked and have decided to wear the pots. Looking at the other gear, it's plain to see I'd be dealing with some serious road rash if not for the leathers. Thanks again, all.
Still amazes me how fast and with NO warning it can happen. LW, we were on 403 heading N. to Carlos from Navasota.
