V&H BAFFLE REMOVAL???

I have a 2006 and was wondering how you remove the baffles to repack them. Is it just the two bolts on the bottom rear of pipe? Thanks in advance.

That's it, two bolts on each pipe, then slide them out.

If you are looking for lower, and little louder sound, wrap the baffles in alum flashing and secure with 3 radiator type clamps on each baffle.

V&H BAFFLE REMOVAL???

Mine were stuck in there with carbon & a little rust. After removing the bolts I snagged them out with a little slide hammer, like the type they make for pulling dents out of a fender.

That's ALUMINUM FLASHING material, like you use on roofs. DKDixie turned me on to this earler this year. It does sound way better (if you like deeper & louder) than the fiberglass packing, and it seemed to give back some of the low end torque that you loose from going to larger pipes. I really like how it sounds.
Thanks again Dick!

Is that something you can get at Home Depot or is it a specialty thing?

Available at Home Depot, Ace Hardware and I would think any other major hardware chain.

Buy the 14" wide roll, measure the distance between the large baffle ends (which if I remember right is approx 11 1/2"), cut enough to go twice around perforated portion of baffle, and secure with 3 radiator clamps on each baffle.

V&H BAFFLE REMOVAL???

So, basically, you are just covering the holes of the baffle?

V&H BAFFLE REMOVAL???

I have had trouble pulling out the left side baffle, as the packing is hanging up. I guess, if I just pull it out, I could just wrap it with the alum and not have to worry about the packing?

What I done was unroll the packing off the baffles (can be put back on if needed later), cut the flashing to length (a little shorter than the shoulders on both ends of the baffles about 11 1/4" - 11 1/2") and 12" wide. Wrap the flashing around the tube as tightly as you can (you want it to wrap around at least 2 times), put a hose clamp on each end and tighten them up. Then in the center, put your 3rd clamp and snug it enough to keep it smooth from end to end. Slide the baffles back in, replace your mounting bolts, start it up, and enjoy your new sound.

V&H BAFFLE REMOVAL???

Once you get the baffles out, there's a easier way to get the sound you want. Just cut the baffles in half, leave the packing off, reinstall them and NOW you have the meanest sounding Nomad. Once I did it , now all the Nomad here that have V & H's have their baffles cut in half.

Just ask Nico how he like the sound.

Dkdixie cut his in half like that, and although it does sound good, it's a little TOO loud for me personaly. I do still want to here my "tunes" . By doing the flashing thing, it is a little lower sound and deeper tone than the regular packing on the standard baffles, it's just right for me.
