Road Snakes

Hot here in North Texas and other area's I'm sure. While out riding today I was reminded that those road snakes, (tar stripe repairs) can
get a little slippery when they get heated up. Just a reminder to be careful out there.

Yep. We have 'em here in Louisiana. Slimy little devils!! You are absolutely right, hot weather makes tar sticky, slippery, and dangerous. Thanks for the heads up.

Same here in Illinois along with the hollow hole next or near the snakes... changing between lanes has almost become a "only if you must" scenario here.

Recently I saw a guy with a paint scraper goin' at it on his rear tire. i wondered enough to breech the silence code, with a Whatcha doin? Things ok?

He had run over a tar snake and it stuck to his tires! I had never seen that happen before, and I could see he had a lot of crud once I was close enough. I might imagine he had collect more than a pound on each tire.

So beware....

Around here, Florida, with all our rain, we are having pothole season or so it seams. The other thing I have noticed is they are layering the turn arrows/stop lines/etc pretty heavy and they are mighty slick in the rain.

Our issues in Virginia Beach are the around the expansion joints or lack there of on major roadways. We have some serious jarring rises on route 264. You have to change lanes and ride in the exact beaten paths of the other vehicles or you will get tossed around.

In Oklahoma we run over snakes and slide the rear tire to kill them buggers.

I just read a safety topic on tar snakes in a motorcycle mag. I got today. It is a big problem. I agree with Doc. When they wiggle, turn around and hit them twice.
