Careful out there

Had a pretty big scare on the bike this AM. Just before sunrise- heavy fog- ~1000 ft visibility. Came upon a wreck in the road. Made it unscathed luckily. Without boring you with details and second thoughts- just be careful out there!!!

Be careful out there, you got that right! I was out yesterday with the wife ( she is a new rider and a bit nervous the way it is ) and some JACKASS cut right out in front of her. Man i wanted to kick that guys ass. Here in the Poconos we have had a rough summer as far as motorcycle accidents...Please everybody ride safe!

Careful out there

We recently lost a guy locally to a collision with a deer. I know we all try to be careful, but things do happen.

I have a friend who is a longtime pilot. He says the one thing he is constantly doing no matter how long he is in the air is, "looking for a place to land"...ever vigilant.

I have been riding a lot of twisties through rural areas and I am constantly on the lookout for dogs and deer. That philosophy keeps me from rolling on too much throttle as well. You never know what is around that next corner!

Careful out there

A friend of mine in another town was in the HD dealership this weekend, and the owner said this has been a record year for them repairing accident damaged bikes. Mostly due to deer collisions.
Thanks for sharing the reminder to always be on the alert.

Steve, I've said for some time that riding through fog is worse than riding in the rain. I appreciate your warning, and think that it is always good for us to be reminded now and again.

Careful out there

There needs to be an increase in deer hunters. In the last 4 years I've hit 3 deer with my cars and a sparrow with the motorcycle. That put me two up on my family tote board as my wife has only hit 2 deer. (I don't like driving at night for that reason).

PS. I was on the back roads of Ct. Sunday and came upona motorcycle accident that involved a Porche Boxster. They collided around this 25 mile an hour turn that I'm familiar with (Rt 14 and you better be doing 25MPH). The crotch rocket was on its side and the Porche had major damage in the front of his car, with a piece of red plastic from the rocket still buried in his front hood. Nobody was on the ground as far as I could tell. There was somebody standing there rubbing his leg and two other bikes pulled over, fire engines, police etc. I figure the Boxster was so low to the ground the motorcycle rider probably cleared the vehicle with minor injuries. I don't know what happened though. Maybe the Boxster was going too fast or tight in the turn. Don't think so though...............

Careful out there

Thanks for the reminder. Here's my friendly reminder. I always assume the "other person" does not see me as I mentally prepare to make evasive maneuvers. I know that doesn't help with deek and other random events, but it helps. Stay safe everyone!
