Montpelier, Vt. Police Log - Weird News

I needed a smile this morning.
Thought I would share. :)

Here is a sampling of recent calls handled by the Montpelier Police Department:
Sept. 1

Montpelier Police Log: ‘Trail of blood’ draws attention.
A Kellogg-Hubbard Library patron reported a trail of blood down Main Street. It started outside the AT&T store, where there were puddles of what appeared to be blood. The trail went down the sidewalk past the library. It turned out it wasn’t blood, the police said, but rather some sort of syrup.

A group of boys were “horsing around in traffic.”

Jason Anzback, 27, of Barre, was charged with retail theft for allegedly shoplifting items from Shaw’s on Main Street. A competency hearing was scheduled and a no-trespass order issued. Anzback is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 13.

A man reported that his wife was “following him and he doesn’t want her to.”

Stephen Petruzzo, 24, of Montpelier, was charged with driving under the influence. He was stopped near the intersection of Berlin and River streets. Police said Petruzzo registered 0.186 blood alcohol content.
Aug. 31

A man reported to police that he was “struck by (a) child’s mother.”

A Sherwood Drive resident called police because his neighbor was running a table saw in the driveway at 10:42 p.m.
Aug. 30

A Charles Street resident reported that a raccoon was rummaging through a trash can.

A Dairy Lane resident called police at 5:52 a.m. because a car with loud exhaust woke up his child.

At 89 State St. three teenage males were reportedly giving a maintenance worker a hard time.
Aug. 29

Police continued to respond to storm-related calls.

A storage unit on East Montpelier Road was reportedly broken into.
Aug. 28

Tropical Storm Irene hit Vermont.
Aug. 27

A man was found lying in the grass near 71 Berlin St. at 5:15 p.m. According to police, he was drunk and unresponsive, but breathing.

At 7:43 p.m., a man was found in the road at the intersection of State and Graves streets just past the Dairy Creme.

A Cummings Street resident reported a bear roaming around near some trash containers.
Aug. 26

Champlain Farms gas station at 5 Memorial Drive reported that someone drove off with $30 of gas.

A Dairy Lane resident reported a neighbor’s cat for getting into a fight with a skunk.

A box of bullets, including one hollow-point, was reported found on College Street.

Two dogs were reportedly acting aggressively at Hubbard Park around 6 p.m. One woman told police the dogs chased her.
Aug. 25

A caller reported that a dog bit him on the leg near 713 Elm St. According to the police log, the dog bite broke the skin.
Aug. 24

A Hubbard Street resident said air was let out of her vehicle’s tire again.

Two Montpelier men were cited for possession of a regulated drug — marijuana.
Aug. 23

A caller reported that a man was threatening to burn his shop down.

At 4:01 p.m., a call came about a man “slapping (a) female around” at a Barre Street apartment. No reports of an arrest were logged.

A Cliff Street resident reported that a collector coin delivery had been stolen from the porch.
Aug. 22

Police investigated the possible theft of items from the consignment shop at 6 Barre St.

A Sibley Avenue resident reported that her umbrella was stolen from her locked vehicle.
Aug. 21

At 1:55 a.m. police responded to a call on Elm Street because a woman allegedly stole her boyfriend’s keys and was chasing him. At 3:52 a.m., police were called back to the apartment because the man allegedly cut himself in order to blame his girlfriend.

A caller reported that someone had apparently rummaged through two cars parked on Liberty Street the night before.
