+1 He probably drives an armored Hummer with an automitic motorcycle targeting system. Just watch out for him on the road.

Ban Motorcycles

He's an idiot. Funny that he doesn't give all the facts about these collisions. What did the motorcycle and the rider hit? Another motorcycle? I doubt that and therefore it must have been a car. Did he mention that the car could easily have crossed in frt. of the bike? That the driver of the car probably wasn't watching carefully enough, and/or didn't see him or her? Do riders cause some accidents? Probably. But is it fair to just say they have more accidents according to some stats so we should remove all of them from the road?

Hey go easy though Scott,. Ban newspaper columnists and I could be out of work.

I bet he has a seat belt installed on his bed and a helmet on the night stand just in case he gets lucky. We wouldn't want our insurance rates to go up because this joker stroked out and fell out of bed.

Typical idiot who is profusely fertilizing with his verb age. It is not the fault of people who are driving other autos. Maybe they should ban cell phones? How about teenage drivers? Let’s look at the statistics of those categories.

If he was really concerned about saving lives and reducing medical and insurance costs, he should be preaching to ban smoking, alcohol, and fast food.

His wife probably wanted a real man and ran off with a biker and this pinhead has an axe to grind with all riders.

Ban Motorcycles

Well that has got to be one of the most one sided articles I have ever read. I thought you needed an education greater than knowing how to read and write to be a newspaper columnist.
2 of his 3 examples involved collisions with other vehicles, no mention of who was at fault. We are a drain on taxpayers? I'm sure most of us pay our fair share for insurance. Does this guy think if bikes were banned we would all go out and buy an extra car to tour around in and spend the same kind of money? The massive amount of sales tax, registration, licensing going into government coffers from our pass time would be missed, not to mention the loss of jobs in the motorcycle industry, tourism and probably dozens or more spin offs that benefit from our passion.

His statistics are wrong. It is 14 deaths per 100,00 vehicles. 1t is almost 18 deaths per 100,00 drivers, so right away you can tell he is slanting his view. His next cause is amusement parks you know all those deaths at amusement parks could be prevented if we just banned amusement parks, then we can ban outdoor recreation, all those people that drown or get lost enjoying the outdoors should be banned from going outside. This guy probably enjoys life by sitting in front of his tv set when he is not working.
