Computer related question

First let me say yes I have a GPS and it will point me in the direction of motels.
I program my trips on Microsoft Streets and Trips then transfer them to my Garmin.
Is there some kind of small, hand held device I could download my Streets and Trips program into and carry with me on trips. It would show me exactly where the motels and restaurants are rather than in the general vicinity like the garmin.
The Garmin is great and I will never travel without a GPS but I need every advantage I can get while traveling. :-[

Can't you just type in the actual address of the motel in your garmin?
Is your gamin loaded with the latest map and POI for you.

I have a TOM TOM and I never leave for a trip without it

Computer related question

I know there are hand held units that can be used for navigation. Not sure what all can be loaded into them. I was once out on a ride and ran into a couple (man and woman) and they were using one to locate different things. It was like a scavenger hunt they were doing. The man told me I needed to buy one. It used replaceable batteries. I should have asked him more about the unit.

I've used my Iphone for the very same thing you are asking about. I can search for the hotel, restaurant or whatever. Then plug the address into the GPS.

Yes the Garmin I have is a Zumo 550 and it is an awesome unit.
I could punch in the address and it will take me to that address or I can search for motels, restaurants, etc.
I was asking because the last trip we went on I punched in motels and it took me to main street in Phoenicia NY. There was no motel at that address. If I had my Streets and Trips program I could have searched it and seen there was a motel 1/2 mile away with a different name that didn't show on the GPS. I asked a couple guys on the street and they told me of the one 1/2 mile away on a side road.
