FI help needed

Ok here's the situation.

I just finished installing a 1600 in my 03 Nomad. I reused my FI.

Now the FI light stays on. And no fuel is flowing through the system.

Ideas?????

Go over all the wiring. Does the pump cycle on? Is the bloomin pump plugged in?

All the wires seem to be connected. The pump is connected but not cycling like it should. All the lights work. The engine turns. The FI light on the panel stays on. This is an 2003 so I don't believe it has a tip sensor.

When I find the problem it'll be one of those 'Is that it" moments.

Did you use the old ECM or the one from the 1600? perhaps the sending unit is different or faulty or the speedo cluster is different.
There could be a hundred things causing this from a bad ground to who knows what. Youll have to try different things and hope you find it.

The first thing I would do is compare both wiring diagram for any difference in the harness. Then I would compare all the other FI parts (injectors, ecm, etc..)from both year to see if there is something different.
Let us know what happens.

All of the wiring is from my 03. The only plugs which are in use are the two which plug into the injectors, the throttle position sensor, and the air temp sensor in the air cleaner.

The throttle bodies are off the original 1500 and worked just fine six weeks ago.

Where is the tip sensor on your 02?

Its by the battery, at the back edge of the gas tank, under the seat, turning the key on and off should reset it. If your fuel pump isn't buzzing for a couple seconds when you turn on the ignition something is wrong, start by checking the ignition fuse, its a 10 amp, if thats ok start with the plugs under the tank and work from there.

It was a typical duhhh moment. The ground for the Cobra FI 2000 was connected to a hot terminal thus sending the ecm a fault. After correctly connecting the ground it roared to life.

Now I'm all smiles, at least until I think about the hours I spent trying to find the problem instead of riding.

Glad it was somthing simple. I've had more than my share of "duhhh moments" myself. Let us know how she runs after all the hard work.

She runs like a flippin top. I took her out on the slab and up past three digits and I have to say that this 1600 is smoother than the old 1500.

Now as soon as my rear headpipe comes from V&H I'll be set.
