And the second amendment lives on!!

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

In a 5-4 decision today, The Supreme Court decided that an outright ban of handguns is unconstitutional. It was supported that the 14th amendment guarantees the 2nd amendment to all states and local municipalities. Long live the constitution!!

That is good news, but the vote should have been 9-0
4 justices have their heads in a dark place.

Unfortunately that would never happen here. Were not allowed to protect ourselves.

I was glad the decision went the way it did, but don't find it overly encouraging. We have already surrendered the right to bear arms in most places and this is now a struggle over the extent to which we will be able to keep arms. In truth, most of what was granted in this article of the Bill of Rights as an overarching right has already been infringed: You can only buy and own specific types of arms and can only bear them where local authorities allow it. Now I agree that for the most part none of us want people walking around town carrying machine guns, and so we collectively have accepted that placing of limits on our right. But it is a slippery slope, because that inherently negates the absolute right in the amendment and places us forever in the position of defining the degree to which infringement will be allowed. And so a 5-4 vote that may go the other way next time depending on the inclination of the justices at that time.

Glad to see the vote went the way it did although like someone mentioned it should have been 9-0.

I myself do own a .357 Smith and Wesson pistol and a .45 Colt pistol plus a Browning 12 gauge shotgun and a Remington .22 rifle. Plan on never giving those up regardless of how judges or anyone else rules.

Dont get overconfident, I heard one guy on the opposite side of gun control talking about all this did was give a confirmation of people being able to have guns in their houses..... there was another guy that said "Illinois" couldnt stop the ownership but they can make it virtually impossible to own by taxing, id's, fingerprinting, insurance requirements...etc etc.

Sound familiar? Its the Obama way..... sure you can build coal plants... but he is going to tax you into bankruptcy!!! and Kentucky and all the rest of the coal mining belt voted for him AFTER he said that.
We are doomed by dummy’s and the gun control battle isnt done, this is just another law the non-gun believers have to find a way around like everything else. You have the right but do you have enough money to do it becomes the issue.
Everyone has the right to drive a Hummer, but how many are going to be able to actually make that choice now, let alone how you gonna buy something when they run them out of business too.
They have been trying to circumvent gun laws for decades and they aint gonna stop now.

That's because we have 4 "activist" judges that do not look at the Constitution when rendering their decisions.

Looks like we'll soon get another activist that has never been a judge!

I know...it just seems to get worse everyday. Maybe things will change after the November elections. I hope so.
