Right side air filter cover
I just removed the right side air filter cover figuring on oiling the idle adjustment cable.
1st time I've taken it off, never needed to I thought. Should there be an air filter element behind that cover? I don't have one there. If so, is there one I can buy at a parts house instead of a dealer? Thanks for your time

I'm assuming yours is a stock bike, if so, then no. Your air cleaner is on the left side. Air is channeled through a cross-over tube that goes between the jugs and to the right side.
Goofiest setup I've ever seen.

No air filter on the right side. You can do the throttle body cleaning while you are there.

Right side air filter cover
Thanks folks, wuuuu, y'all just saved me a stomping case of the red ashes. I was going hunting my mechanic tomorrow. I would have never figured an empty air cleaner cover. It does look good, but now even more confusing with a single carb. Well that's what makes me mechanically declined, confused, I guess.
Thanks for your time

Right side air filter cover
I had the exact same experience last summer when I first brought home my 2008 Nomad, and posted with the same question then. I was freaking out thinking the dealer had left out the air filter in putting the bike together but learned it was all OK. So, you're not the only one.

Extremely inefficient design.

Right side air filter cover
When I brought my nomad home (2006) I pulled the covers to check the air filters and wondered where the right filter was. At first I thought the dealer forgot to put it back in (used bike) but found a PCIII under the left side cover and figured that was a fair trade :-)
