Your not the first person to experience this happening to, it seems to be a common issue. Mine has done it also time to time. I don't know if there is anything you can do to prevent it from happening. Maybe somebody out there has a suggestion.

Me thinks your ticking noise (thread on BD's board) is something other than the ICS. I'd be on my to my wrench. Hope this is not too off the mark. Could be condensation. Is the oil discolored, milky? Thats the limit of my turf. BD?

Condensation would disappear after it was warmed up. Does it go away after you ride?

+1 I too just noticed that you had another post asking about a ticking noise and wondered if the two were related. Did you drag the bike to the shop to have a wrench look at it?

I get the condensation when the bike sits for a while after a cool weather ride. Does not seem to be as much of an issue in warm weather.

the condensation is a result of cool weather and not riding the bike enough to thoroughly warm the motor. happens to me also. take a long ride and get her warm.

The fogged glass is because the sight glass is double paned, and a little moisture does develope due to temp. differences between the inside and outside panes. To get rid of it, you have to ride a good bit (OH DARN) to get it hot enough to drive the moisture out.

Short runs and cold weather contribute to condensation buildup. This is normal but it isn't good for the engine. The minimum run on a Nomad should be 10 miles in the winter and 5 miles minimum if the temps are over 75oF: or basically, long enough and hot enough to boil off the accumulated moisture.

Keep an eye on your coolant level just in case. If the level is falling and the oil level rising you've got trouble.
