I've got the PC III - I've got two fuel maps- onhe for mileage and one for power. I've got V&H baggers and the stealth air kit on Gadget's site. The power commander made a big improvement. Gas mileage did suffer though, even with the mileage map. So far it's my favorite mod.

I too have a Power Commander, It came with my bike so I was lucky enough to have all the work done for me. From what Ive heard, the guys that bought other brands of fuel processors wish that they had bought the PC. It is more adjustable than some of the others from what Ive been told.

I have a TFI, which is basically the same as a Cobra. I think Cobra is just a TFI distributor & they just put the Cobra label on it.
Several of my friends have had Power Commanders. Some have had trouble, others not. I think it relates to this: Sometimes when starting a bike, perhaps when the engine is really hot or cold, there is a real drain on the voltage & then it spikes up when the engine actually starts. I think that in severe conditions this can cause a P.C. to "lose the map." This happened to two of my friends (both own Harleys, BTW, but I don't think that's necessarilly pertinant) and their bikes mysteriously started running crappy. Once they unplugged the P.C. from the injectors and plugged the stock wires back together (bypassing the P.C.) their bikes ran better. Eventually they both hooked it back up, re-loaded the map, and then the bikes ran fine again. Actually on a HD, I don't think this was too much trouble to do, but on a Nomad, if you had to do that, you'd have a rather difficult time I think, messing around with the gas tank & such. The P.C. is definately more advanced technology (well, at least it's different technology) and If I was going racing I'd definately choose the P.C. to get that last ounce of power. I'm not though, and for day-to-day riding the TFI seems to work well enough. If I ever do need to disconnect it I'll have to lift the seat, but that's much easier than removing the air cleaner & lifting the gas tank. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

PS: because my bike was pinging from the factory, I put on a TFI before I ever changed the pipes or the intake. It did help a lot with the pinging, so for that reason alone I'd recommend it.

I've got the Cobra. I thought the thing was junk until I set it right.
I guess it depends on how much you want to spend. Before, I hated the thing. Now, due to my "enlightenment" or getting unstupid, the thing works pretty well. If you don't have an aftermarket exhaust, why spend the money? I would do the resisitor. |

Is there a way of checking to see if I have a map still in it? Ive never touched the PC as it was already installed when I bought the bike.

I'm not a Power Comander guy and I've never remapped one myself. I understand that all you need is a PC, a USB cable, the PC software, and a map. (If yours is the PC3-USB that is.)
I've heard there is some setup requirements where you load a "zero map" first, but i don't know the procedures. |

The install was somewhat difficult because you have to loosen the gas tank and lift it up. I have pretty big hands and there's limited space to work in. It would have been easier if I took the gas tank off, but I didn't want to do that.

PCIII, V&H baggers and K&N airfilter, installed the PCIII map for my set up. Bike runs very fine! No pinging and lots of bottompower
Buying the PCIII is worth every euro (the best mod so far) Running 95 octane fuel! Greetz from a snowy Netherlands Nomadman ![]() |

as far as i understand it jimbo you do not need to put any kind of power comander on your bike if you are just changing exhaust. the only time you need anything like this is if you are changing anything on the intake.

It fools the fuel injection to thinking the air is cooler than it actually is, and the computer delivers a little extra fuel. All the instructions are on Gadget's site and the Kawasakimotorcycle.org forums here Kawasaki how-to Look for "Constrictor's Caddmann Air mod tutorial" |
