Usually due to improper inflation, too low a tire pressure most times.

Cupping from underuse, no doubt.

You're lucky to get 13,000 miles out of a rear tire.

After i but new tires on i will have to pay more attention on the tire pressure, I remember when i first bought the bike(used) it had a bad roaring noise so i took it back and they changed the rear tire. I just hope there is nothing else wrong... I was planning to do the swing arm lube and check the u-joints while i have the wheel off.

Baddad... unless you use a CT (which you can see you are getting pressure to consider that ); you went about as long as you can expect on a MT.

I know mine was shot without any tread by 13,000. If any tire gets beyond 6-years old... it is a good idea to change it anyway, because oxidation to the rubber and other hidden problems can occur due to nothing more than age. All tires have their manufacture date stamped on the tire in code.

Be sure to learn about this code and check the "new" tire you are buying to make sure it is not an old-one -- which are sold more often than people may know.

Also; make sure you do all the lube-service and "checks" to the areas you mentioned when changing the tire.

Big, heavy cruisers - cupping tires, no matter how much air pressure; low pressure makes it happen faster.

You didn't put on another brick did ya? I hope not. I have no idea how you lived to put 13,000 on that rear. Best i could do was 7,000, and I ride like grannie wanted me too.

Baddad. I had a similar situation. I have a 2003 that I bought with only 2000 miles on it (in 2008). It had the stock Stones front and rear. Whenever I would go into a turn I would hear a rumbling noise that I thought was coming from the front tire or wheel bearings.. When I got to 12000 miles I bought a new rear tire (Dunlop E3)...the noise went away.

Good Luck!
