Tour Help Please
Guys, help out a Limey. I (and wife pillion) am looking at touring on a rental bike for a week in mid July. I did this a couple of years ago, landing in Vegas and touring mostly Arizona (including Grand Canyon). I have also toured Nevada and California, so what next? I can be flexible regarding the airport I fly into, providing I can pick up a rental bike nearby. So, if it were you, what would your ideal tour itinerary look like?

How much time do you have to tour? Anything special you would like to see or visit? Are you wanting to maybe attend a rally and meet some of us? Great riding in Arkansas and the South Central Group is having our rally in June. You can fly into Little Rock, AR or Springfield, MO but most likely you will have to rent a Harley.

If you don't mind flying into Denver, I'm sure you can rent some kind of motorcycle there. You'd love touring in the Rocky Mountains. Easy to spend a week or more dong that. And if you have the time and can afford to rent a bike for a couple weeks, riding up through western Wyoming and into Yellowstone National Park is a great experience. So is riding through Utah, except that in the summer it can get REALLY hot there. But lots to see and do. Beautiful scenery. Just a suggestion.

I'd even pick you up at the airport and get you where you need to go. And if you wanted partial guided tours, I'm sure that Ells, Audio, and I would set you up in the right direction. With my private practice, I could even work my schedule to ride on some of the rides. Colorado, and Utah's national parks would make a great ride. Click this for a slide show of a Colorado ride with Ells and Audio ![]() And here's a Utah Red Rock country photo, it's a days ride from Colorado. ![]() Login or Register to Remove Ads |

The Black Hills are worth visiting, too - and are less than a day's ride from Denver.

Hi Phot...I will put my plug in for Oregon & Washington. I live about 15 minutes from the Portland International Airport (in Oregon) and could pick you up and transport you to get your rental bike. You can rent Gold Wings and Harley's in Portland.
You can see a wide variety of sights around the NW. Mt St. Helens Volcano, ride the amazing Columbia River Gorge, the wide open spaces of the Central Oregon High Desert, the beautiful Olympic Rain Forest, go island hopping on the ferries between the San Juan Islands, eat lunch in the revolving restaurant atop the Seattle Space Needle, scoot down to the crystal clear Crater Lake, take in a Shakespearian play (if that is your thing) in Ashland Oregon, jet/mail boat rides on the Rogue River, and of course don't forget the majestic Pacific Coast HWy (101) along the Oregon Coast.....some great little towns, sites, and eateries. The other NW members and I can recommend some great secondary highways so you see the "real" scenery and cool little towns when you are in a relaxing "kick back" mode . I am sure many of us including myself would ride some miles with you and show you some of the highlights. Take a peak at the internet and preview some of the scenery and sites....just gorgeous. There is just about everything you may want to see or do. Within 90 minutes of Portland you have big cities, small towns, rides along rivers, oceans, forests, natural wonders, snow capped mountains. Visit casinos, bed and breakfasts, camping, cabins, luxury hotels, music festivals, sporting events (including futbol!), theaters, you name it we got it! If you had more than a week you could also hit parts of Western Canada, Northern California, or Idaho. If you do come up this way I would recommend September 10th through September 30th. Usually great weather and most families are done traveling because the kids are back in school....less traffic and cheaper hotel rates! If September does not work then I would say anytime between July 10th and September 30th as we get virtually no rain fall at that time. A great place to plan your ride is the Harley Davidson ride planner...here is the link. I find it very simple and fun to use. http://www.harley-davidson.com/wcm/C...P6kGLhmnrXvh2p!-126472536!2005081819&locale=en_US Good luck and let us know what you plan so we can help you out.

Fly in to Denver, you can rent from a selection of cycle rentals here. Depending on the amount of time you have to ride, and the number of miles you want to cover in a day,. You are at the gateway to some of the best scenery and riding roads in the country. Like Dan I'm available to help you in town and on the road. Just let me know what you are looking for, and I'll help plan, suggest, and ride along if needed.

I have to suggest you come to one of "the colonies" and see what Canada looks like. We have our beautiful east coast. {I've only seen pictures} but I'm sure cnc and others out there would direct you there. Then make your way across our sweeping prairies and admire the beauty of the wheat and other grain fields. Not to mention the towns and cities along the way. Eventually you'll reach the fabulous foothills and then the majestic Rocky Mountain chain and all the beauty it gives us. These outstanding beauties will see you through to Beautiful British Columbia where there is no end to the available roadways that beckon rides on bikes such as ours. As you make your way through The Rocky Mountains and into what is, the true west coast with all the beauty of sun, sea, mountains and pleasurable places to ride. There are members all along the way that I'm sure would love to meet up and guide you across this great country of Canada.
Maybe then,... continue down across the Canada/US of A boarder to take in Washington, and Oregon's beautiful coastline. It just never ends my friend. I look fwd. to hearing that you're coming this way. Depending on timing of course, I'd be sure to show you about and do some riding with you. ![]()

You can rent Harley's if you fly into Calgary, Alberta. (Kane's Hary Davidson)
Banff to Jasper is a very sceanic run. Just google it for pictures. Lot's to do in Calgary from Philharmonic, Golf, World Class Fly-fishing, Pro Sports, shopping to Rodeo events and everything in between. We are also very close to British Columbia, lots of twisties on those Highways!. And you get more bang for you buck, up here in Canada, due to the exchange rates. There are so many terrific places to tour. It's a tough decision. Try setting up a "tour" on Gooogle Earth it's almost like being there. Good luck!
