Knocking in the motor.
I have a 2006 1600 Nomad that has about 9,000 mi. on it. I have now noticed a low knocking noise coming from the engine. Service says it sounds like it might be a rod or rod bearings. Has anyone had this problem on their bike? ???

Thats quite unusual, are you sure its not just one of the normal noises that these engines make? Id get a second opinion, especially if you don't have warranty on the bike. The dampeners cause a knock when they are worn, but at 9,000 miles nothing should be yet.

I agree should not be a bad engine unless something really rare is going on.

Knocking in the motor.
If the dealer says it is rod bearings then I would let him fix it, if it is covered under warranty. If not covered, I would change oil, spark plugs, and ride it till it was easier to diagnose.
My 2007 knocks, rattles, ect. I thought all v twins did. My warranty runs out in 2013. Good luck, I hope it is an easy fix. Login or Register to Remove Ads |
