The Mustang seat spoiled her
For several years on the Classics, I had used the Mustang Wide Regal seat after Angie began commenting on how uncomfortable the stock pillion was. The Mustang stopped her complaints. I noticed a little improvement, but nothing really drastic.
With the Nomad, I'm currently happy with the stock driver seat. The Nomad's stock passenger pillion looked to be more comfortable than stock Classic, so I was in no rush to buy Mustang's Nomad version. "Let's see if she even notices," I thought. Last weekend, we took a ride and after about a half hour, Angie asked, "Is this the seat from the other bike?" She muttered when I told her it didn't fit, so I had sold it. I was surprised how quickly she noticed the difference between the Mustang and the Nomad stock seat after not having been on a bike since last fall. In anticipation of the situation, I had already bought an extra Nomad pillion on eBay and some gel that was originally used under a horse's saddle. When I get the time, I'm trying my hand at a custom gel seat. There are some good "how to" instructions on the web, and I'm hoping to avoid the Mustang cost. This project is on the sly. I'll replace the current seat and see if she notices. If the butt's not happy, nobody's happy. (I should be more careful with my wording in case Angie ever sees this. I meant to write: "If her butt is not happy, she's not happy, then nobody's happy." ) There.

I always say, "it's not what you say,but how you say it" that counts.

Liz and I don't ride together very often but both she and I are of the opinion are that those ladies that ride on the back seat deserve all the comfort they can get! Liz always tells me how much easier it is to drive the bike and set on the front seat than ride pretty much motionless on the back seat.

I've got a Mustang pillion for a 99-03 (their way of saying not the FI model?). I'd sell it to someone with that year range.
Like bobhamlin, I've saved it thinking I'd take the foam out of it and redo my 1600 with the better foam. My wife quit riding, and I've never done it. |
