Back Rest on the Mustang Seat

Will the backrest on a mustang seat come off if I decide I don't want it on? Getting ready to order one in the next few days.

Back Rest on the Mustang Seat

Yes it does. The drivers seat has a hole with a leather flap covering it over when the backrest is removed. The backrest has a flat bar with 5 or 6 detents in it to hold the back rest at the height best suited for your comfort.

There is also a thumb screw that will allow you move the seat back forward and back about 2 to 3 inches.

I love my Mustang seat.

Back Rest on the Mustang Seat

Thanks Drifter. Just finished 600+ mile trip to Death Valley and my butt is numb. Thought about sending my stock seat off for the Gel inserts but ran into another Nomad rider that had the Mustang Seat on his motor and he ranted and raved about it, not to mention how dang good it looked. He said he has had two Corbin's and he liked the Mustang the best. Going to have to work some O.T. to pay for this mod.

I have the Mustang w/backrest and although it is definitely better than stock....my butt still gets sore after a few hours. It doesn't get numb like it used to...but I do find myself wiggling around after about 100 miles. There are other options out there. That said...I do like my Mustang, but I think there might be better seats out there too.

With even more OT...you might think about the Russell Daylong Seat. They are more expensive yet....but everyone who has them raves.

Also....Ultimate Seats is coming out with one for the Nomad very soon. Check them out at:

This is where I bought my Mustang at what was the best price I could find:

Good luck in your search!

Good choice with the mustang seat. The only thing I can add is that you should definetely get the set that comes with the backseat. I did not follow that advice and I regret it because I cannot find any aftermarket backrest to fit the seat.

I agree, my butt still gets numb with the Mustang seat, but I like it a lot better than stock. I'm glad I purchased the driver's backrest too.

The backrest doesn't extend as high as I would like it to but it is very nice add'l comfort nonetheless. It will take a while to ride your new Mustang in - don't judge by the first few rides!!

I would imagine it doesn't. Aren't you like 6'5" or something?
