Classic Parenting!

The birth of Praire Cruisers kid brought back a favorite memory of my own. Just had to share this... ! You new dads might keep this one up your sleeve just in case....

Image me as a 29 yr. old single dad with custody of a 2 yr old (or thereabouts) boy. I was having a bit of a tough time getting him to you know....handle his own paperwork after a sit on the throne. I kept showing him how to do it and telling him he was big enough to do it himself.

He kept assuring me he would handle it "next time"....but next time would come and it was the same thing...."Dad....I'm done, wipe my butt". Finally, with a sense of great inspiration...I came up with the answer.

The next time I had a sit on throne, I called to my kid. I heard his little feet coming down the hall in classic pitter-patter fashion. When he arrived at the bathroom door....I calmly announced "Dude....I'm done....wipe my butt".... !

As you might imagine, that was all it took...... ;)!

That reminded me of my pal who was in his mid thirty's and single at the time. He crashed his 4 wheel ATV and went over the handlebars breaking both wrists. After he came home from the hospital with casts on both arms his mom got to do the paperwork for him for a few weeks. Im not sure if I would be able to handle that if it was me.

I keep telling my kids that I changed their diapers when they were small and I expect them to change mine when I get old. They all tell me they will PAY someone to do it for them. Why didn't I think of that? Oh yeah, I was broke, I had kids.

This reminds me of a story a friend told me. He had to have surgery on his wrist for tendon damage. At one of the doctor visits, he told him and his wife that they would do both at the same time. She TOLD the doctor that they would be doing one at a time since she was NOT going to wipe his a@@ for him.
