CB Radio

I have wanted to put a CB radio on my Nomad for sometime and now that the antenna is there installed on the Ultra trunk I really wanted to put one on. My club uses them with group rides and it works well. The J&Ms always looked like the best setup except for the cost, but I found an eBay seller moving a bunch of dual rider systems for under $200 shipped so I pulled the plug today. It is setup to install on a BMW but it shouldn't take much to get it working on my ride. I don't know if anybody else has installed a J&M CB on their Nomad but it was too good to pass up. Now to save up for a couple headsets... $$$$ My wife is riding with me more these days instead of on her own bike and the dual headsets will be good on the bike instead of having the batteries die in our bluetooth headsets. A little Nomad emblem stuck over the BMW thing will make it perfect.

CB Radio

I've had mine on the bike for a couple years and it is a nice deal. I also ride with a group on a regular basis that uses CB function. Wife and I listen the Xm when we ride and she can nag...I mean, talk to me while we ride too!

Very funny Firemanbrent. Guess I would have a system like that if the wife rode with me.

Yeah I reverted to that system. Once i had a 78 cent system where I could hear my wife breathing. It got over the top with her pointing out sun beams..

That did work real well though. All it was, was foam ear plugs, one in yer ear, the other to talk into. The rest was hard vacuum line off some junk car, 2 rubber plugs to plug in between us, and fish tank tubing.

The only time it was a real hassel was one night when I placed my foot in the pot hole from hell and dumped the bike. That was my 850 by the way...

Knock on wood the 06 Nomad has never been down...... yet.

I have used the J&M CB on two Nomads. Chuckster made the mount you see here for the cable, it works really well. In this picture it shows a plastic mount but I recently bought a P clamp to mount it. I ride with several Goldwings and the CB is handy to have.

My new bike came with a CB and communications system built in to the sound system. I am looking forward to trying it out on the road to MV. I have hooked it up and tested it, just haven't really tried it out yet.

I've had the J&M for a couple of years now. The intercom works fine up to about 75. Make sure you have the SWR for the CB checked at a CB shop, it'll help your transmitting range. One nice thing about the system is that if your SO gets too chatty, you have control of the on/off switch

That looks great!

I just finally got a CB installed on my bike for one of the reasons you mentioned, our bike chapter riders all use the CB to communicate. I just got a motorola handheld type one. The only problem we now, is that Chaz and I like to communicate on our headset Scalas (you know, talk about others and they can't hear ya! ;)). However, we can't have both systems in one helmet. So, now we have two different helmets!!!

Ain't technology grand!!!!

CheriAnn, MikeInFLA has both Scala Rider and the J&M hooked up on his helmet. His helmet had two mics and such but he had them both on it and operational.
