New Tire

Well I installed my new tire yeaterday to get ready to ride. Seems that a tire with an inch wide strip of cords showning is not safe to ride on. WHO KNEW??? Anyway this is not a task I normally do since I didnt have the jack or a place to do it untill now but I went to the Suzuki shop the other day looking for a 180/70/16 for my bike that no one else had and found out he was going out of buisness. He sold me a used motorcycle jack for $25.00. I also bought a new half helment with the zip in liner that covers your ears for $30.00. Anyway I got the bike jacked up ( had to use some shims so it would be stable and level) and went to gadgets fix it page and printed of directions. Again besides dirt bikes I had never done this before. took about three hours which included driving into town and having the Yamahaw shop mount and balance the tire, changing the oil and filter, and replacing the rear brake pads. All and all it was a fairly easy project and saved me a bundle. I usually get the tire changed at the local Kawsaki shop but they have fallen on hard times and no longer carry new bike( they just order ) and their sevice has gone through the roof along with their parts.
They quoted me a new tire for $266.00 and Yamahaw sold it for $206.00. Kaw wanted $45.00 to mount and balance it and Yam wanted $12.00. rear brakes were $60.00 at kaw and $36.00 at Yamahaw. I find this so sad :'( and told the guys at Kawasaki what I was being quoted at Yamahaw shop and all they said was "go there".
So I got the tire on, checked for spare parts, went for a ride and nothing fell off . Firday I'm doing the antifreeze service and going to replace the brake fluid since its 5 years old.
I am so ready to ride now...
