A little Nomad therapy....

Big layoff today at work today. Second one this year. Missed me, but had a negative impact on me emotionally. Put on about 160 miles of therapy through the Texas Hill Country this evening. I'm better, but not healed.

Sorry to hear about your work situation.

sounds like you did the right thing... riding is far less expensive than seeing the "doc".

I always hate to hear things like this. Like you said, it not only hurst those who take the hit, but those who remain feel the pain. I hope things continue to work out in your favor. Who knows, maybe they've hit their magic number.

All I can say is I can relate, and know the feeling right now.

Glad they missed you, but hard to see coworkers leave too. Hopefully things start picking up soon.

Yeah, these bikes can make you forget a lot of things, even if only temporarily.

There ain't much a ride won't make a little better, especially on a bike like a Nomad. I hope your co-workers have something similar for them to fall back on.

Two-wheeled therapy is a great thing, and it can fix almost any mood.

ND,

Know exactly what you are feeling. With budget issues, we are going thru the same exact issues as where cuts are being made and the potential of layoffs or reduced time.

A little Nomad therapy....

Some of the salaried employees started to return today to retreive their personal items. Some had close to twenty years of service with the company. Then the General Manager cranks off this:
(phone rings)
me: Hello
GM: Hello this is -----, are you going to be around?
me: A.........yes
GM: I have something for you. I'll be right out.
me: Okay
(Great; what have I done now? Well it was fun while it lasted. Escorted out by the GM...I must be really special; I didn't know he even knew my name.)

A few minutes later he shows up with a single sheet of paper; obviously rolled, wrinkled and over handled.

GM: Since your leadership is out of plant; here is the paperwork for......your merit increase. It is the maximum raise for being fully competent.

It was instant low, then panic and then a strange relief. Just sick and twisted!

Talk about a roller coaster of emotion! Congratulations to you and heartfelt sorrow to your co-workers that got laid off.

That is a bit of a roller coaster for sure. Glad you were spared. We are going through some of that here now too at the schools. I got cut some days, but so far, that is about it.

Wow, I'm sure it seemed like an eternity for the GM to show up after the phone call. Stress and more stress. We weren't expecting our annual cost of living raise this year because of the economy downturn but we got a very pleasant surprise when a 3 1/2% across the board raise was announced last week. We also heard that the company is planning to purchase other companies that are suffering now. All good news so far. I hope the economy can turn around soon so everybody can get some good news.
