Tire/wheel question

free beer to the first correct answer. if you install new tires on our Nomad and you ask the tech to line up the valve stems say both at 6pm so it will make airing the tires easier. And he says they won't stay that way??! if they are both 16 inch wheels and you start with the valve stems at 6pm or 12 noon, whatever, won't they remain that postion until removed??? he said they will spin due to hard accelartion/dec.?? i said you must not have driven a Nomad yet,LOL

Could this be accomplished or not?? THX ::)

Hey Doc,
It's called 'clocking' - we used to do it to show cars and no - it doesn't stay - the front tire turns at slightly different rotation because of the act of turning

I totally agree with the notion about the Nomad performance tho - not too many wheelies going on

Also, since the tires are not the same size (at least on the 1600) they have different diameters and therefore different rotational speeds.

how could the smaller in diameter front tire stay in sync with the larger rear tire once moving???

The rims are the same size but the rubber isn't! Was this supposed to be hard ????

OK, let's go a little further with this. Suppose you have the same size tires on the front and the rear and both wear at exactly the same rate so that they both have exactly the same circumference at all times.

Under these circumstances, and as long as you ride in exactly a straight path the wheels will stay in sync.

However, as soon as you make any kind of a turn the wheels will start to drift out of sync.

The reason for this is that when turning the rear wheel tracks inside the path of the front wheel. The sharper the turn the greater the difference between the arcs of the front and rear wheel. Since the rear wheel is traveling a shorter distance it will rotate slightly slower than the front wheel, ergo, the wheels will drift out of sync.

Yep Doc, both wheels don't follow the same path and the front tire actually travels farther than the rear tire.
