They are not really that much work to install. Just make sure you cover your tank with a thick towel and if you can get a friend to hold the bars while you work it is easier yet.

Love mine. I'm 5'7" and it's so much easier to reach the bars now.

Edit: When you remove the stock risers, you'll need a 14mm deep socket to get to the bottom bolts. Saying that, I didn't have one so I used a 9/16" deep socket. 14mm would be better but the socket does have to be deep. Like TC said, it really is an easy job. Hope this helps.

adds that extra draw back for comfort I wanted... Im 6"1" and love em. Piece of cake to install... but like they say in the instructions.... cover your tank while doing them.

You won't be disappointed.

Phat risers was the first mod I did.....and being 5' 7" I couldn't ride comfortably without them.

I have them on my 06 and really like them. I bought the chromed ones cause it would be hard to polish the alum. ones while on the bike. Alum doesn't keep the shine long.

I got the alloy ones because it can't chip and rust... it is a 50/50 thing.. I wipe mine down often and smear a dob of light machine oil on it and then wipe it off and wax it. They will never chip and rust..

Just the other side of the coin... get which ever type you like..

You may find you need to adjust the fuel tank, bezel (Nacell)

Be sure to check lock to lock real easy, and have 1/8th inch clearance..

Caper:

Phat II risers, or I's or III's, are not the only risers available for the Nomad, but the Phat II's do seem to be very, very popular amongst Nomad owners. I don't think you'll be disappointed- they really help reduce the need to 'stretch' your arms out to get to the handlebars. You'll notice the difference.

Most people claim to have been able to install these without any brake line modificiations, but that wasn't the case with me. I have an '08 Nomad, and I had to reroute the brake line (off of the front brake master cyclinder) outside the triple tree. Others suggested sliding the master cylinder inward on the handlebar, which could also work.

Now I have the front brake line dangling out by it's lonesome, which kind of bugs me. Eventually I will probably replace it with a longer one, and reroute the brake line inside the triple tree again.

There are a number of places that offer 4"+ brake hose extensions (or whatever length you desire), Scootworks and Phat Performance Parts being just a couple of them, and there are others that offer stainless lines that are longer than OEM. Because the brake lines that run to each caliper are molded into the 'splitter' which runs up to the master cylinder, adding a longer brake line will actually require dealing with all three of the lines, not just slapping one one new hose from the master cylinder.

Not trying to discourage your from buying risers- and most guys haven't had the too-short-brake-hose problem like I described. Even with the monkey business of rerouting my brake hose, I'd still buy risers again, no question about it.

I just put on risers from Rivco. No mods needed. And if I can do it...

Of all my mods, the Phat II's were by far the single best comfort improvement of the bunch. I just moved my brake cylinder a bit to give me that extra bit of room for the brake line. You will love them for sure!
