More cruise control help

Another wiring question. I'm having trouble locating the blue/red wire from the junction/fuse box. Anyone know where I should be looking or do you have another option. One of the wires from here is red/blue with gray lines across. I don't know if I should be looking at wires below the fuse box or ??? Thanks

You're connecting the gray wire from the cruise control switch assembly? This wire powers the LEDs to illuminate the switch buttons. You can use any switched 12v circuit for that. I have an accessory fuse block up front by the steering head and that's where I took my power from, so I didn't follow Gadget's instructions here. You just need to locate a wire that is off (0 volts) when the key is off and +12v when the ignition is on.

From Gadget's instructions:
"Grey = This wire provides lighting for the switch. Connect to any powered wire (except bulb) in your headlight bucket or the Red/Blue wire out of the fuse box (power before brake switch). "

You will find red/blue wires in the headlight bucket. These provide power to the running lights.

What do they mean when they say any switch except blub and what does power before brake switch refer to.

Switched means a circuit which is powered only after the ignition switch is on and the engine has been started. The running lights, tail light and headlight are examples of these.

Except bulb usually means anything except the headlight circuit.

Power before brake switch means on the input side of the circuit going to the brake switch. After the brake switch would be in between the switch and the brake light.

Hope this helps.

You have 2 brake light switches, one on the right handlebar (brake lever) and the other actuated by the rear brake pedal.

The reason they say "before the brake switch" is because the wire supplying the power to the brake switch is always hot when the key is turned on, however on the output side of the brake switch, it's only hot when the brake is actuated (between brake switch and brake light).

I was going to say "now go out and test it", but from your location, that might not be possible. Congrats on completing the install. As Bob said, welcome to the club!
