2005 Nomad Blue - Silver Paint Source ?

Hey all,

I have checked out the ColorRite site and they are super expensive!

Anyone know of a source for the correct colors with the stock numbers that aren't as expensive?

Thanks!
John

Try a local automotive paint supplier, they may be able to mix it for you.

jrd, my trunk was painted by an automotive painting company who mixed their own paint to match the factory colors. I think it's a great match, and didn't cost the Colo-Rite stupid (or criminal, as CJ states) expensive pricing..

Unfortunately, ColorRite has a virtual monopoly on the factory paint color and touch-up market. I'm sure that's why they are so proud of their products.

2005 Nomad Blue - Silver Paint Source ?

My local Ford body shop told me that their guy is pretty good about being able to get factory paint codes from the manufacturer. You will notice that on the colorrite site they do not show the code for the blue or the green. You can get the base black and silver though. He told me they had a similar issue with Harlye but their guy got the code. He said if they have a vin number and a sample they can match it even if they don't use the factory brand of paint. I would think the only tricky part would be matching the effect of the metallic. I don't know about the blue but the green looks black when the light hits it just right and then you move your head 3 inches and it shines with a gold hue from the metallic in it. Awesome

Well then, it looks like my only option if I want it to match perfectly is to go with the colorrite brand. At least I got the trunk cheap enough that the total cost of the project won't be that bad. I should have bought VulcanE's old trunk ::)

Thanks again for the help guys,
John

Well, a small consolation is that I can say for certain the silver is in fact an exact match to the factory paint. But yeah, their prices are outrageous.
