Idel Adjustment

Last few weeks my Nomad had gotten to where when I start it, it would die and I would always have to hit the start button a second time. Then it got to where it would die sometimes when gearing down to stop at red light or stop sign. Took it in for oil change etc and told him what it was doing. Has 12,800 miles on it. He checked it out, said the idel was set too low adjusted it.

I can't believe the difference it has made. No staling, starts on frist hit of the button. I can tell a big difference in performance. I am tickled pink but can't believe just adjusting the idel made so much difference.

Yep, it does unwind2. I have mine adjusted to idle at just under 1000 RPM.

Hey Nancy, I know that when I clean the FI throttle body injectors with a toothbrush and some seafoam the bike idles much better. They seem to get dirty fast and the air control is small inside the throttle bodies.

Blowndodge - Good info - Thanks. I've heard a lot about seafoam.

Its real simple. Just remove the right side air cleaner cover and spray some seafoam or injector cleaner over the butterfly valves and use a old toothbrush and scrub away. I can't believe how fast they get dirty. Then the idle is real smooth.

Correct the warm idle for the 1600 is about 950 +/- 50. She sounds alot nicer at about 500 but will be harder to start. I have mine about 700 and it hardly missing a start but once in a while. Anybody else using seafoam in there gas tank, etc?? Thanks

I'd been hearing a lot about Sea Foam lately...... never heard of it before..... I had been getting consistantly 33 mpg....... mix of around town, freeway, twistys, solo, 2 up...... put a few ounces of the stuff in 2 tanks ago.... checked mileage.... 33.

Next tank ran 87 octane and checked mileage....... 36 mpg. I know it's only one tank... too soon to judge..... but first time I ever got that good.... coincidence?

My bike won't run below 900 rpm, does your upper engine get enough oil at 700 rpm?
