Probably a combination of the old battery and the 20/50 oil. When it gets cold I prefer 10/40. The bike spins easier with that wt and colder temps.

Go to Wally World and get one of those inexpensive battery tenders. That will keep your battery up when the bike sits a while. I think they start around $20.

Your bike is telling you something...

"Rich, get me out of this frozen garage and get me to a warmer climate where I'll be happy".

Hi Rich,

I would be interested in how many miles you have on the bike and where you end up getting the battery and cost. I have an 03 with the original Yuasa, I am living on borrowed time but it seems to be holding a charge fine and turning over great.....shoot, I probably just jinxed myself.

Radco
Had the same issue last week. Figured it was the original battery finally crapping out (2000 FI 18,000 miles). I rode all last year down to 24 degrees without any issues. I use 10/40. I just put a tender on it till I change it. Putting it away this year for service, tires, grease, etc.

HARD to Start

Hi, Had the same issue on Friday. Bike had been sat for 2 weeks and did not want to start. Had to crank it for a long time and several times before it would start. I did not think it was going to start. Never had this problem before, 05 Nomad, 37,000 kms, Amsoil 10/30. Took the battery out yesterday for storage, terminals were barely tight. Maybe have been the problem, maybe not.
