Paint Burn

After trailing my bike home last week, I noticed where the tie down strap rubbed against the saddle bag resulting in "paint burn" for lack of a better term. Any suggestions to rid this unsightly mark on my saddlebag surface? I tried washing with mild detergent and spraying with a polish treatment to no avail. Thanks.

Maybe a little rubbing compound? Work gently and be careful not to get overzealous with it.

Paint Burn

I would start with Meguairs "scratch X". It is a super fine polishing compound. Work it on a clean surface only. Follow the instructions. After that, I would go to Meguiars #7 Showcar glaze, then finish it off with the premium wax of your choice. My guess is that will take about 95% of it off. If that doesn't do it, get some regular light rubbing compound and add that to the front of the order I just described. If that doesn't do it, it's probably more than you can remove safely by hand.

Just my thoughts

Question? Does it look ok with water on it....? If so you might compound it out, and or re-clear it with out compounding.

+1 on the above advice. Always start with polishing compound before trying rubbing compound.

Thanks gents. I'll give it stiff polish and rub. And then I use some on the bike.
