Idaho Lowers
I'd like to thank Idaho for sending me the pattern for the lowers he designed. I appreciate the effort you went through to get this in the mail to me Bud.
Now the question is do you just eyeball them to drill the holes? For the second side installation do you reverse the pattern to mark the holes drilled from the first side? Thank again, Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Yeah Idaho...Thanx. I got my patterns yesterday. I'll go out and get some acrylic this weekend.
Ron, Let me know how yours turn out. I was going to mark the new acrylic with the old lower and use it's bolt pattern as a guide.

First remove the existing Kawi panels. Then grab one of the two that you cut out, hopefully they still have the thin film coating on them, and line it up where you think you want to mount it. You can put it close to the fork tube or farther out as long as it won't hit the case guard when the wheel is at full lock. Also decide how close to the windshield you want to put the lowers. My windshield is all the way down and my lowers are mounted within about an inch of the windshield. You may want yours lower or higher than that depending on where your windshield is. If you windshield is all the way up you may want to leave some room between the lowers and the windshield in case you ever decide to move the windshield down. Mark just the top hole and drill it out. Then hold the lower in place on the mounting frame with a screw so that you can decide where you want the panel mounted relative to the fork tube and windshield. Mark the second hole and drill it. Then use that panel as a template and drill the second panel and mount them after you pull off the protective plastic. Pretty easy really.

Idaho Lowers
I am really fortunate to have a great Father in Law. He took Idaho's pattern, bought the material, and made the lowers for me while I didn't know it was going on. So I'm heading out to his house this morning to install them and take a ride up to the Malakoff Diggins about 25 miles north of Nevada City California. I expect the lowers to help with the cooler temps we'll experience today in the foothills. I'll let Bob N know how it goes along with Idaho. Once more, Tks Idaho!

I received my template in the mail this week (Thanks Idaho!). Now that the tailpipe tonsillectomy is complete I can turn my attention to the front of the bike. Hope to have a new set made and installed by end of the weekend.

Hey Ron, I think you are stretching it just a bit too much. I believed every word until you threw in the part about the brownies. Glad you like them.
