LED light upgrades?
I just bought a new to me 2002 1500 Nomad FI. I’m looking to upgrade the headlights to new LED lights, and looking for suggestions, advice, etc. Anyone have any pics or lessons learned from their installs?

if you are willing to spend the money, a daymaker or similar is the best. i never used on, but they have their own reflectors so should cast an appropriate light pattern. daymaker brand is tried and true. can't speak to other brands except to say cheap no-name chinese ones are a crap shoot from what i've read.
if you are looking for a cheaper bulb replacement, the brand i have is no longer made, but whatever you get, i strongly recommend you get one w/ 3 or more surfaces, so it will output light in a pattern more like the oem incandescent the reflector is made for. ther WILL be blind spots w/ the stock reflector and a 2 sided bulb due to the way leds work. i have seen someone post a pic of a 2 sided that had reflectors at 90 degrees on both surfaces that made the output more like a 4 surface bulb. the person posting it was very pleased w/ the output pattern. |

oh, be sure you properly align the bulb whichever way you go. a 6000k, high lumen light, led or otherwise, can blind oncoming traffic if no aimed correctly.

For my '09, I constructed my own custom light bar using two 3.5" headlights from Ryca that also use H4 halogen hi/lo bulbs like the center, then equipped all three headlights with Sylvania SilverStar ZXE Xenon bulbs which are 35% brighter than standard. I now have three DOT-approved headlights, all with hi/lo beam in sync, and all blazing 35% brighter than standard. My brother had the Daymaker setup on his Road King and it couldn't touch this setup, not to mention the LED's are an annoying stark white color while the Xenons light things in a much more natural, daylight-like color.

I went with the Truck Lite LED phase 7 bulb. I have the exact same bike. I also have Rigid Industries LED cube lights up from also. I can really see the deer on the side of the road now. The lights are so clear and bright that when I ride down the street roosters crow because that they that its daylight.

Thank you all for the input, the bike has a 3 light bar on the front of it, would there be any issues you think adding 2 other bulbs?

Can anyone help me figure out what kind of bulbs these are? It looks like an 1156 but it has a lock ring around it, is it necessary? They are for the fog lights that were previously installed on nomad. I want to replace al of the lights, main 7 inch headlight and both the 4.25 fog lights Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
