Looking at high mileage bike. Concerns?
Stumbled across a sweet deal on a 1600 nomad. My only concern is the higher mileage. 46000 miles (73000km). With reading all these nightmare stories about shifter forks and cracking the case or head gaskets and having to pull the engine etc..., should I be concerned? are these types of problems common? Our riding season in Ontario is short and those kinda problems can take u out of the game quickly.

As long as you take it for a ride and its not leaking fluids, runs smooth, thats average mileage, mine was 123000 when I purchased, there easy to do mods to and the ppl here are great for help! Good luck! By the way I'm here is southern Ontario as well.

46000 miles is barely broken in.
My 1500 has 140000+.

I have almost 60k miles. I hate when ppl say it's high mileage. I'd rather buy one with higher mileage that has been ridden. Can run into more problems with an older bike with low mileage. All bikes like to be ridden.

Theres nothing wrong with that mileage, its still low. I have over 150,000 miles and just came back from a week long 3000 mile trip. If its maintained they will last a very long time.

These bikes love to be ridden and toured on....150K on the big Vulcans is nothing. Saw a beautiful burgandy and black 2002 nomad in sturgis back in 2015. Had 388K on the clock. Origional engine, not rebuilt..... Other than puffing out a cloud when she started....sounded good. Looked just as good as the 01' with 70K parked next to her....

Unbelievable. I am so happy. Am still having Harley withdrawal, but I some like my Nomad. What I spent on a Harley: gobs. What I spent on my Nomad: oil.

As mentioned 46k is not much for mileage ! Had almost 40 k on my 04 when I sold it and NEVER a issue ! What I would do is change all the fluids to start ! Check the sidewalls of the tires for cracking !

I have somewhere around 76000 miles on mine. Still putting miles on, and I hope someday when/if I decide to sell it that someone thinks whatever miles are on it at the time are not 'Too High".
