Milwaukee 8 engine

Has anyone heard of many issues with Harleys new m8 motorcycle? I see quite a few low mile 2017 Ultras and Rode Glides at dealerships and on Craigslist for sale with 5k or less miles. Just surprised why you would sell or trade after 5 thousand miles.

Here is what I've been told about Harley. They will fiance anyone. So guys get them ride for one season, then try to sell them or let them go back, cause they can't really afford them.
This was told to me by the Honda/Kaw dealer owned by and next door to the Harley dealer. Guys would come in there couldn't get approved, go next door and get a more expensive Harley. Go figure.

A lot of HDs get repo’d in some fashion.

There’s the payment guys, then the guys who find a reason to quit riding not just admitting it’s not for them.

I guess if you are going to buy a bike you can't afford and chance having it repoed you might as well go for the high dollar bike.

As far as issues with the M8 engine , I haven't heard a lot bad about them. They went back to a single cam setup and did away with two cams in the bottom end with chains and tensioner failures that trashed the bottom end if you didn't keep an eye on them. What I've heard from the ones that have bought them is they run better and should be a more dependable engine.

I'd say the previous posters in this thread nailed the reason for so many for sale.

The interest rates by HD financing is pretty high. Even with good credit I've heard 9%. I've also heard they have a very high default rate.

Around here if you own a Hardly you have to buy the clothes to go with it. That itself is a reason to unload the bike!

Same around here mate. They just have to let everyone know that they have one.Ive seen blokes walking around in summer, wearing leather jackets & trousers, sweating like a race horse. Most people think they are wankers.

I know people who've done that! They will finance "almost" anyone.

It's fairly common. They might be repos, or maybe the guy who bought it found out that riding is dangerous and scary and his wife won't let him keep it. There's any number of reasons why you see low mileage, late model Harleys for sale.

My concern would be if he bought it knowing he would not be keeping it would he "ride it like he stole it", not caring about thrashing it.
