Welcome and Greetings

Start reading anything and everything you can about the Ivan Reflash.

http://www.ivansperformanceproducts.com/vn1700.htm

Basically - This guy Ivan has figured out how to communicate and retune the Stock ECU of the 1700 Vulcan (Voyager/Vaquero) to run a ton better.

I have personally went from an Ok riding Voyager that got 38 MPG to a much smoother running, more powerful, 44+ MPG machine.

You should note - that the Ivan ReFlash does away with the need for anykind of aftermarket Fuel Management system (Power Commander, Cobra, Bully)

Hope this is what you are looking for - Best money on an upgrade I've ever spent on my 3 Voyagers and around 100,000 miles. (Daylong seat it my second best upgrade)

It must be where I live. 65 mph and up I get 37 mpg under 65 and it goes up into the 40's.
The one thing most of us have in common.... a flashed bike is a fun bike.

Few comments on this.

#1 - What gas do you use - I find that Premium Citgo (93) gets better mileage than Sunoco (93) which gets better mileage than Sheetz (local chain 92). When I ventured down to 89 octane and my mileage went down also.

#2 - While it took me a long time to get over it - I'm not winding my Voyager out to 3,500 all the time (Ivan Flash made that fun!!) I now find myself shifting to the next gear in the 2,300 range and sometimes chugging along at 1,500 in 6th gear.

#3 - My riding area is a lot of gentle rolling hills - where if I'm easy on it (not full throttle going up) I can drift down the other side using very little fuel.

#4 - I ride 90% of the time with my wife on her Spyder - We don't really ride that fast overall - probably 5-10 over on roads up to 55 and seldom over 70 on the interstates. That's just where we are comfortable.

Oh and we try our best to stay out of stop and go smaller town traffic. - I can't imagine what MPG I'de get in pure city driving.

Anyway - That's my story this morning in Hershey, Pa as the remnants of Harvey is passing through for the next hour or so. Ride Safe

27.6 MPG in the city , that is my average on the gauge. But I do run it hard and often go over 5,000 rpms. And with a grin on my face the whole time. 11 lights and 4 stop signs just on my way to work. I have not Ivanized so the extra RPMs smooth it out, so I tell myself. I did not buy it for the mileage though.

And here it comes............Wait for it..........."Your Mileage may vary"

Gotta use good hi test gas. I found that Shell premium added almost 3mpg and better performance. Also, just dicovered that mobile 1 4t oil & fram filter got worse mpg than royal purple 10w 40 by 2 or 3 mpg but shifted better. Gonna go back to rp though 17$/qt and k&n oil filt on amazon 5 bucks. Finally, when prrformance lagged a new air filter worked. 40$ stock each year or 8k miles, so I tried a k&n air filt $65 online from k&n including fittings to fit stock ok, added MUCH performance and mileage 3mpg and is good for 50000m. No need for bak. 12 1700 Nomad gets 45mpg at 70-74. Worst I can make it get is 39 over 80mph, or fast starts in stop & go traffic riding real hard. Normal shift range is 2500 to 3200rpm. Gas makes a big diff. No costco, sheets, valero. Only Shell premium. Winter I sometimes add octane booster. Richmond, va.

I would love to average 40 mpg on my Voyager. I'm a big guy (275 lbs) so I won't get the kind of mileage that someone 180 - 200 lbs. will. I average around 36 mpg with highs of 40 - 41 mpg (highway only keeping it below 75 mph) and lows of 33 - 34 mpg (lots of stop and go traffic) depending on terrain, traffic, and how hard I twist the throttle.

No Ivan's; I got an EJK before the flash became popular and I'm not paying more now to get it flashed. It's not worth it to me.

The biggest impact on gas mileage is your throttle; the more you twist it, the lower gas mileage you will get.

You can spend a lot of money for re-tunes, loud pipes, etc. that will make the bike more fun to ride but most of the time your gas mileage will go down even more as you wind-er- up to feel the new power and hear the new song it sings under acceleration.

I could possibly get close to 40mpg. But I'd be bored to tears riding. I average between 32-34, depending on how open the road is.

I used to believe that was one of those "Life Constant Truth's" until I had my bike Ivanized.

Headlines should read "Ivan's Reflash Defies Logic - You Can Get Better MPG And Have More Power"

me and a lot of others agree that Ivans flash is the best way to improve mpg and performance --- but we dont all get the same results for different reasons --- i always use top tier fuel but the brand dont seem to matter but the choices are limited around here -- lately a few more brands have been added to the list -- cooler weather coming up will cause mpg to drop for all of us -- the fuel tanks are vented to atmosphere so fuel is always evaporating so if u are parked for extended time the mpg will be lower

our bikes seem to be like cars -- 2 exactly alike will not perform the same -- one is a little faster - one uses more fuel - one may use a little oil - one runs better on brand X fuel or we think it does etc --- has been like that as long as i can remember in the car buisness

The last fillup, I got 33.15 MPG. That's average riding with premium gasoline. I'd really like to get 40.

I am currently on a 600 mile plus weekend ride ride on my new 2017 vaquero post ivans reflash. My first tanks of fuel (chevron 91 octane pretty much always) on the new bike pre flash averaged about 37-38 mpg in mixed highway and city riding. My last two tanks post Ivan have been showing 40 mpg with a truly amazing improvement in power, controlability and heat reduction. Making the bike infinitely more enjoyable to ride.
