The PCV has solved my decel pop woes

I am so friggin happy right now. I searched and searched on the interweb for a solution on tuning out the decel pop at 2100 rpm and it was in front of me the whole time on the Power Commander site. I have an excellent map that was shared by Element 80 when he still had his Vaquero, which coincidentally has the same exact setup as mine. The bike loves his tune. Thank God RacnRay talked me into getting the PCV with Ignition.
Basically the map had a value of 10 (which = 10% fuel over stock) in the 0% throttle position, from 1750 rpm through redline. I rode yesterday and was still getting some pops at 2100 rpm as usual. Worse when the bike gets hot and pulls timing to avoid any pinging. I read everywhere on the internet but found no real solutions.

SO I looked at the Power Commander frequently asked questions. There it tells you that you can try adding 3 to 5 degrees of ignition advance to help with decel pop. I added 4 degrees in the 0% throttle position from 1750 rpm through redline. The decel pop was gone. It is about 92 degrees out today and I ran in stop and go traffic to let the bike heat up a bit. No matter what, I could not make it pop on decel. I heard a muffled poof sound once when I let 4th decel down below 1750 rpm but other than that I heard nothing. I left all of the other Ignition cells in the table at zero, which is the stock ignition curve. I am super stoked. hopefully I will have the scratch to get RacnRay to do a custom tune during Xmas.

Whats up Mike? Yeah so far it seems to have worked. The ignition timing should not effect anything else within the mapping. I need to get a little more saddle time with this setting, but the bike was pretty warm on my test ride and I was intentionally dumping the throttle and letting it wind down past 2100 rpm and got no popping. I definitely think it is a better alternative to dumping massive amounts of fuel to mask the popping and have the bike smell like a fuel, station.

Is the timing mod worth it? I'm looking at getting the PCV and am not sure it'd be necessary. Opinions?

For $20 more it is worth it. I got mine shipped $279 from motomummy.com out of TX.
Once I get cash for a dyno tune I will have Ray do the fuel map and ignition table. Right now I only added 4 degrees advance in the 0% throttle position from 1750 rpm on up. And I am using a map from a former member here. Popping has been reduced to 99% gone

If you have popping at those RPMs I would think you have an exhaust leak or a leak at the throttlebody. I only got a pop or 2 always at 2100 rpm with the throttle fully closed on decel. The bike shuts the injectors off at about 2350 rpm and kicks them back on at about 1800 rpm. This is what I believe causes the pops at 2100 rpm and it is programmed in the ECU, so I think its impossible to rid 100% of popping unless you detune the bike and have it slobberingly rich, which can cause more harm than having pops annoy you. At 4500 RPM I can drop the throttle to zero and it will give solid rumble till it gets to 2100 rpm, but now sometimes I get a muffled single pop sometimes now. Not always like before.

I worded my issue wrong. thats when mine pops and farts around 2100 rpms
the engine gets a little noisy when I am runnin thru the gears to me it sounds like valve vibration never really getting rpms above 5 1/2 grand I will pay more attention next time

I'm not concerned about the popping. I just want reliability and smooth power.

Right now she is running and performing like an angel. The map I have was done on a dyno for a member who had the same exact setup. I know the bikes are all slightly different but man she runs beautiful with the tume I have right now.

I tried David Sheek's tune that has an ignition map, but for some reason the bike started idling funny and I dont want to screw anything up. I rather wait till I can have Ray properly tune my ignition and stay with stock for right now with the exception of adding timing in the 0 throttle column.

when you get your PCV let me know your setup and I will shoot you a couple of maps I have. The one I am using now is for a Thunder BAK and V&H slip ons.
