Seat Mod by Mean City

I'm tired of having a sore butt on long rides. I have a Mustang seat, It's better than the stocker, however It's just not gettin it..... I've tried gelpads , Airhawks, and sheepskin. They help but just not the answer. Also don't like the looks of the Daylong seats..... soooo....

So I contacted the guys at Mean City Cycles to ask about the mods they offer. They seem very knowledgeable and are quite friendly. I told them my situation and the guy said that the memory foam option should make a big difference. Said they carry gel inserts too, but only because guys demand them. said they don't do anything except spread out the problem area. They have a waiting list out around 3-4 weeks. So I got on the list, Hopefully my Mustang seat will come back "new and improved"

I will be looking forward to your ride report.

I had a mustang seat on my Honda 750 aero and loved it, very comfortable, so I was happy to see my Nomad had one when I purchased it. However, I find the seat on the Nomad to be a little too hard and flat across the seating area. A little reshape and some memory foam might be just the ticket.

If it works well for you, I may decide to try it myself.

I had a gel pad for a while on my oem seat and its really no better than nothing. I got the Russell seat and it made a world of difference, 8-10 hour days are no problem at all.

I had an ultimate seat on my valkyrie. Never got sore in a day. Ride forever. Best seat I ever had. Pricey though.

Yeah, I figure I'll try this first before I drop another chuck of $$$$ on another seat. This mod costs $115 plus $25 because it's a Mustang. Guy said that's for having to drill out the rivets and re-rivet. So $140 + shipping.

My '04 Nomad had a Mustang seat when I bought it in '09. From the first the seat was angled wrong and I had a problem with numbing in the legs, and the boys were being pummeled and mauled by the center mound. One day it dawned on me that the seat was pitched too far back, so I added extenders to the rear mounts to raise the rear about 1.25". Voila! Instantly better. No problems since. It also helped improve the reach to the bars.

I had my stock seat modified late last year by Spencer at GreatDayToRide.com and I'm very happy with it. He was great to work with and the price was very reasonable.

My Mustang wasn't much better than the stock, and I called and spoke with the folks at Mean City, and Spencer's, but ended up pulling the trigger on a custom made seat. Glad I did, 'cause I love my seat now.

I had a stock Nomad seat reworked with memory foam by Mean City years ago (right before the Custer Rally) and it's definitely a big improvement. I went by their shop to see the operation. I don't think you will be disappointed.

What it really was is that you guys spent a lot of cash on those new custom seats and now that your wallets are a lot flatter there is no longer any big bump on your butt to cause you any pain!
