First ride of the year and clutch slipping

Well the weather was finally nice enough to put in a new battery and get the nomad out for a quick spin. Pulling out of the drive and climbing the hill out of the neighborhood she felt sluggish. I assume it would clear up within a few miles. Out on the road going through the gears I could hear the engine wind up but wasn't gaining speed for several seconds. It did it in all gears and for the entire 30 minute ride. I need to know if flushing the clutch fluid is going to help or do I have a bigger problem? She sat up for a couple of months with no winterizing since we didn't really get that cold.

When is the last time you changed your oil or bled your clutch? Did it show any sign of slipping when you parked it?

Changed all fluids in the summer or fall Was riding fine when I parked it that's why it was such a shock to feel it lagging.

Put it in 4th or 5th gear and pull the throttle. If the engine revs and the bike doesn't pick up right, then the spring is toast.

Get a 1500 Meanie spring and a set of Judge's washers.

Mas that's exactly what I did yesterday ... Several times. Sounds like the spring sure enough but if recall I had the spring replaced last year. I will have to go back through my records and see but I am almost positive.

Barnett's spring? It's what I did when mine showed the same symptoms about 6-7 months ago. Problem solved.

Just dug up my receipts... January 14th 2014 I ordered the Barnett spring kit from Bike Bandit and had had it put on. Almost one year to the day, I am having the same issues. Wow! I will likely take it back to by buddy at his shop and have him check it out.

Just running a Barnett does not give the same benefit as using the meanie spring with the Judge's washers.

The Judge's washers are designed to carry the load, they keep the spring from wearing down.

Well I dropped it off this weekend and it will be a while before I hear back. I am assuming that he will say it's the clutch spring. I rode it the 7 or so miles to Burnout's shop and by the time I got there it was half throttle doing about 35 mph. Another mile or so and I would be pushing it. Not cool. Keep those parts on stand by Dave S.
