Just noticed on my V&H slip ons. i am pissed

Was looking at the bike today since I am pretty much done with Mods for now. I was looking at the slip ons and noticed something a little off. It appears that the baffles or inner chrome tip was welded wrong. The right side tip sticks out about 3/4 of an inch while the left side looks more like 1/4 of an inch. I think the left side is correct by looking at it. The right side looks a liitle out and angled down. See pics.

Well that sucks
I'm sure V&H will take care of it, they really step up when people complain about the pipes cracking

Thats all I want Duffy, and I hope its the right one that needs replacing which I am pretty sure it is. It was very easy to swap that one out, the left side is a little more of a pain in the ars without a helper.

Damn that's some poor QC. Hope they step and replace it for you asap.

Yep had those on at one point.. the right is the bad one... since the baffle is one long piece if looks like that it was either forced in when assembled or it was taken out and not pushed back into the small pipe inside the slip itself...

Can you tell if someone tampered with it looking at the screw head ??

Come to think of it, when looking inside the pipe, there is a small dent on the bottom of the lip of the baffle, like it was pryed or pushed with a hard object. I will get a picture later. The left side is perfectly spaced around the entire end piece.

I removed the screws and tried removing it by hand but that sucker is in there tight. I am just going to deal with Vance & Hines I am sure they will correct the problem since it is a workmanship issue and not installation damage.

Ok, so I spoke to Craig Koontz at Vance and Hines. Sent him all the pictures and invoice showing the purchse date, which was last week. I am waiting for his response. He did not seem surprised at all. Hopefully this will be a painless process. Saw a guy on youtube with the same exact problem, also with slip ons for a Vaquero. Was also the same right side muffler. I wonder if it was an entire lot that was done all fooked up. He says in the vid he dealt with them for nearly a month. Hopefully I dont get that type of run around.

I bought a set of V&H Power Duals for my Harley earlier this year. The bell on one of the ends (where the pipe meets the cylinder head) was too large and I couldn't slide the exhaust flange over it. I sent it back to V&H and it took a good 2-3 weeks for them to send a replacement.

Don't hold your breath waiting. V&H is not famous for their customer service.

Oddly enough as soon as you posted , I spoke again with Craig, he said he viewed the pictures , saw the problem and put in the warranty replacement request. He is sending me an entire new slip on, because I told him I did not want to blow a hernia trying to get the defective baffle out in order toreplace it. He is looking up the part and will email me shortly with the ETA on getting me the replacement. Hopefully wont take 3 weeks, but that seems like good service to me CactusJack.

Let me shut up till I see his ETA.

Then you must be the lucky customer. They told me it took that long because they had to wait until the next production run of the part I needed.

Just my opinion but I would never buy anything from a company who has a history of customer service like V&H or Scoot Works.

Tim, when I bought my Phat risers from Scootworks for my 1500 a few years ago I had zero issues. I was surprised when I read all the bad reviews. As far as V&H this is my first experience with them, so I am reserving my opinion until after this plays out. So far so good, at least I can still ride the biks and are not asking me to ship the defective part back first. The defect is cosmetic, still sounds good. Lets see what happens.
