Looks great. Is that a Wide Open Customs fairing?

Thanks. No it's the cheap eBay fairing that is a copy of the Reckless. Reckless wouldn't sell me one without the stereo for the 1700. I already had the stereo and wasn't going to pay for another one. The fairing was 275.00 shipped and then I did some fiberglass work to fill in the din cutout so that I could install my own stereo. After that it went in to the body shop for a color matched paint job. The paint job was 500.00 with them doing some prep sanding.

You say cheap do you really mean less expensive. Or do you think its of lesser quality then the reckless.?. Im looking at replaing my Memphis fairing with one to mount a stereo in.the reckless knock or the reckless is on my list.

Both. It's cheaper than a Reckless but not by much. A Reckless is 350.00 plus shipping. This was 275.00 shipped. The quality is close but needs finish work. The body shop charged me 500.00 for a color matched 2 color paint job the way that I wanted the paint. Reckless charges 600.00 for a 2 color paint job the way that they want it. As I said in the previous post the one that I have I needed to do some fiberglass work on the stereo opening. I didn't want to use the standard din cutout.

I installed a Reckless for a friend last year and he had no say in where the USB port was put. Reckless does there own thing.

If you could get a fiberglass fairing with no speaker or stereo cutouts you would have a nice blank slate to start with. I got a 4 speaker fairing that has the cutouts for 5" speakers. I don't need an amp as the system is loud enough with the setup that I have.

One other note on this. I ordered a Reckless 8" windshield and the chrome windshield trim and they both fit.

Looks awsome! I love the paint job.
I have the same fairing to install.
They send me wrong mounts (for 1500 instead of 1600).
To put it on i will need to redrill the mounts. I am fine with it. The seller gave me $40 credit for the wrong mounts.
I think for the money it is worth it. I had 10% ebay coupon and the $40 credit made it a $200 fairing with shipping.
The DIN cut out on mine is a little to small for single din radio. I will need to redo the opening.

Because they are hand laid fiberglass it is easy to work on. If you can't work on fiberglass a body shop could probably do what you need done cheap.

I installed a 12 volt cigarette lighter and a combination USB/MP3 port that comes off my stereo. I used a hidden antenna that I picked up at Auto Zone. The reception is fine. Most of the time I listen to music from the USB stick and usually only listen to the radio for a game or the news.

You got a really good price. Was yours from exile motorsports? You may want to change out the edge and top bolts to stainless.

Yours looks great. Thanks for the info. Does it or the reckless have quick detach brackets. And why wouldn't reckless sell you one with out a stereo? they are listed that way.

No quick detach. It only takes a couple of minutes to take it off. I ran a set of trailer wires to and from the fairing so I just have a plug that I unplug from the fairing/bike. It's the only wire that needs to be disconnected and a couple of bolts and it's off. I can swap between the windshield and fairing in about 5 minutes.

Holly Boring from Reckless said that they no longer sell the fairing without the stereo for the 1700 even though it is listed on their site. Bunch of BS. I ended up with the same fairing a little cheaper.

Did you end up using the edge molding like I showed you?

It looks good, and I know exactly what you mean about the finish.

I went to Auto Zone and bought it in black but didn't use it on the outside fairing. I may get some clear trim for it. Right now I have the gasket on the inner fairing.
