Solo for a whle
SInce its been raining every day, I decided to tinker a little just to see how it looks. I do miss my back rest though so I dont know how long I will ride this way. Plus the wife HATES it!
Also I dont like the way it looks without the chrome fender cover or at least a leather chap or something. Also didnt realize I had a long scratch under the passenger seat...

If you are going for a solo look you should lay the plate down.
Of course the wife hates it. You would too if you had to ride on a hard steel fender with what ever those things sticking up are.

TC, those are the bolts that hold the seat assembly down. I dont want to lose them. I guess I will be putting it back together soon. I asked her last week if she wanted to go for a ride and she said no you go ahead. Well I figured she was done so I took it off!
Man the doghouse is lonely!

I think most of us know what that is like at some point if you've been married long enough.

I think these are some of the best looking bikes on the road in solo mode.

Here's what I did to mine to dress it up without spending any money. I had a piece of 1/4" black PVC laying around which I warmed in the oven for a few minutes to set a curve (very low temp about 120 degrees). Don't try that in a toaster oven, gotta be a full sized oven so nothing is close to a heat source. I realize not everybody has 1/4" pvc laying around but it's pretty common at a sign shop if you come across one of those in your travels. I intend to wrap this in black pleather to match my stock seat and lace around the edges with leather thong...just haven't found the material yet or had time to mess with it - luckily it looks pretty good as it is so there's been no rush.
Clearly there is no Mrs ID-man...and that's intentional (for now at least). To reinforce that decision I've also got my eye open for about 3 nice long chrome spikes to splay out along that bib, with the message "No ma'am, No thanks." That oughtta pi$s 'em off quite nicely.

Well, I'm on my third wife, and I love this one dearly and wouldn't give her up for anything. That having been said, the first thing I do now is renovate and redecorate the dog house. You'll learn.

id-man, nice creativity! I probably wont keep it like that for long, especially when the weather turns cooler and nicer. She will want to ride then but the heat and rain have made it a miserable summer so far. For now its solo and she will be happy when fall hits.

My wife can't ride at this point (bad hip). But hoping she will be able to ride again in Sept after surgery. So my daughter fills the seat for her. However, I don't like the solo look, plus the pillion comes in handy to strap stuff too.
