New Bike Pimpage

Got in a good 225 miles yesterday before dropping the new ride off at the dealership for a butt-load of accessory additions. Besides doing the first break-in service, the list of things that will be going on the bike, in no particular order, are as follows....

Witchdoctor Exhaust w/Round Chrome Exhaust Tips

High-Flow Air Filter

2" Pullback Handlebars

GPS Mounted and wired to the ignition

XM Radio and Audio Harness

Battery Tender Lead

Saddlebag Top Rails (designed for a 2012 Vulcan Voyager no less!)

HD Premium Luggage Rack w/Chrome Risers (to allow easy access for cleaning underneath)

14" Flip Windshield

Heel-Shifter from Kewlmetal (I know...a heel shifter should come as standard equipment, but for whatever stupid reason, on the Vics they are an aftermarket add-on)

Rivco 55w Engine Guard Mounted Auxiliary Lights (There is no option or mounting area for driving lights next to the headlight, another miscue of design that I'm told will be addressed on later models.)

In addition and soon to be added....

Tank Bra/Bib with pocket from Franks Leather Products

New flags (Norwegian/American) from Rumbling Pride. They provide a lifetime warranty on their flags and since my old ones were so worn and faded, they provided me new ones free of charge!

Needless to say, that is a lot of bling. Most of it was purchased as part of the sale agreement, with only a few accessories coming after-the-fact. I just figured I would have them install the additional stuff as well so that once it rolls out of there, it should be ready to rumble. I don't expect to get it back until late next week at best.

I spent a lot of time yesterday on the super-slab and I am both pleased and amazed at the power-band of the 106 motor in the high ranges. Even the overdrive gear has a ton of kick. It was effortless to roll down the slab at 80 mph...and I just know that with the twist of the throttle I could have been at 120 in the blink of an eye, but alas....I'm still in the break-in period until I get the first service out of the way. After spending some time with my custom pegs, I believe they need to move forward about an inch and out about the same. I have already crafted an additional bracket but will have to wait until I get her back home to mess with it.

I have taken very few photos of the bike since it is, shall I say, still naked. Once I get her back I will take a bunch for sure and get a few more posted. I must say, this is the best I have felt on a motorcycle since riding the old Nomad, which tells me one thing....I made the right decision moving to the XCT.....

Can't beat WDs for price/quality. Make sure you remove the sound strip on the intake. With a new filter/exhaust, you'll need either the Stage 1 flash or a fuel processor. The fuel processor is a MUCH better choice. I think WD sells the VFC III for around $275. The bike should have come with battery tender leads already installed. Before I had anyone drill holes in my trunk, I'd see what Cycleops has. He has some nice luggage racks for the Vision. There ARE brackets to add driving/spot lights next to the headlight. I don't remember who has them but you might try Arizona Victory. I think they're the ones who do all the Vic cop bikes.

I opted for the HD trunk because I have a Dekker Supreme bag that is made to fit it perfectly. I used it on my Nomad w/Premeux trunk and is a great combination (see pics).

I asked about light brackets and the dealership told me that the only ones available mounted on the fork tubes....WTF?? I would much prefer the ones up by the headlight!

If you look here > http://www.victorypolicemotorcycles.com/commander1.html < you can see the extra lights by the headlight so the brackets are definitely available. Looks like I was wrong about who makes the cop Victorys. At least I got the Arizona part right. You might contact them and see if they can sell you the brackets. I know I've seen them on non cop versions of the XC/XCT.

As far as the extra luggage, you may find you no longer need it. I think the XCT has more carrying capacity than any other bike out there. Certainly more than my Vision even if it isn't as good looking. :)

EDIT: Found it. $400 for the spot light kit. There ya go.

I checked out that link, Chris. Some of those cop bikes are pretty sweet.

Chris,
You da man my friend! I talked to Tim at Arizona Victory (you were right btw)....and he says they are are just working out the harness and instructions and should have that package ready in about ten days! He says the brackets w/harness and two sealed-beam lights will run about $299.00. I told him to let me know as soon as it is available and I will buy the kit and have them ship it to my local dealer. I will have to run by there tomorrow and grab the other light kit so I can return it. Thanks for the heads up!

Cheers...Kris

Hey Chris, I let Kris know that any of the cigarette lighter plugs (always hot) can be used for a charging point. That's how I do it. Simple. I'm thinking of the Lloyd's big air kit and the WD baffled mods. Just want a little rumble and efficiency.

I've read that removing the sound strip on the intake makes the bike sound like it has a vac leak like open right sided Nomads do? That's why I never did that mod to my bike. I hate intake noise.

Thanks for encouraging kris and I to go forward with the Vic's.

I saw where Sgt. Mendosa is only 5' 3" tall (female)... so apparently, the cross-country can be ridden by short people...

I'll have to give one of these bikes a try...

Maybe with it lowered a little even you could ride one, Greg.

Sorry for the cheap shot, I couldn't pass that up. You can punch me in the kneecap in Estes.

CJ,
You beat me to it...., but yes....I think Greg could even ride one! For a ticket to his hospitality tent...I may even let him ride mine...!
