Barnett MT 25 Spring?

I have read most of the Threads regarding clutch slipping, Barnett spring/Judges washers etc., but since every situation is not exactly the same, I will ask a few questions regarding my bike.

I just started noticing a very slight slip in both 4th and 5th gear when I jump on the throttle. I keep hearing about the Barnet MT 25 heavy duty spring, but as I understand it, when you order this Barnett spring as I did, it comes as a set of 6 springs.

Does Gadget have instructions for Barnett spring installation? Should I also install the Judges washers while I am in there?
How do I check the clutch plates/disks to make sure they are within specs?

I have heard that most of the time, just a Barnett spring replacement alone will cure any slippage ?
Here is a pic of me with some of my friends back in 68.

Regardless of the brand of spring you use the installation is the same, most times thats all you have to do, since the plates and discs are still within spec. You can use vernier calipers to measure the discs and plates.
When I replaced the spring in my bike at about 38k, the spring was worn but the plates and discs measured up almost as good as new. Its an easy job to do, that only takes a couple hours.

He's thinking the clutch has multiple springs I believe.

If the kit you ordered has six springs in it, I think you ordered the wrong kit.

this is not a Nomad.

This is from a Nomad.

Here's a photo of the Nomad spring on the left and I believe the Mean streak on the right.

I was able to order just the single Barnett spring. It was around $20 if I remember correctly.

The Barnett MT-25 spring looks similar to the OEM Kawasaki spring. It is a convex disk with a splined hole in the center to match the clutch shaft. It is heavier and thicker than the OEM spring.

I don't know where the "set of 6 springs" came from. Yes, gadget's fixit page has detailed instructions for replacing the clutch spring. It is the same with a Barnett or Meanstreak spring, except you don't need the Judge's washers with the Barnett.

You might want to go get a copy of the manual. I find that between the manual and different online parts diagrams you can figure most of this stuff out.

I didn't see the MT-25 diaphragm spring on Phat's website. I think most of us ordered the spring from Mosely's, but I thought I heard they closed up.

I'm guessing that the MT-25 designation is for a group of springs and not a specific one. When you search "Barnett MT-25 clutch spring" all kinds of springs pop up (no pun intended). I don't know.........just guessing here.

The wrong spring explains a lot, no wonder you were confused.

I guess the MT-25 by Barnett is a "spring" but not in the conventional sense. Sorry for you that you ordered the wrong thing. Can you send it back?? I don't recall where I ordered my Barnett from but I will say that it was pretty easy to change out {once you get that main nut off.} Make sure you have some kind of impact wrench to remove it. It'll be a lot easier than a "power bar". And the difference in the feel of the clutch is significant to say the least. But you get use to it quickly and you'll love it.
Good luck

Just canceled order!
They only sell spring if you buy the whole "clutch kit" for $129.

Tried Sherms, but no luck there either. WTF?

A link anyone?

Order part # 92145-1449 from Kaw, that is the older 1500 meanie spring. Get a set of Judges Washers and put them in.
